For the stock people: +2.41m subscribers this quarter, they blew out their Earnings Per Share estimate and are up $32/share in after hours trading.
Stranger Things + Ryan Murphy Shows + Extraordinary Attorney Woo + Cobra Kai did them well. |

Check to make sure your internet has enough bandwidth to stream in 4K.

If bandwidth is good, make sure no one else is using your wifi, like a neighbor that figured out your password. Try changing the password.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
Here it comes:
People are going to claim the sky is falling but I think overall it's a good thing for subscribers, because if you are sharing you're basically subsidizing the cost of the subscription and if that cost isn't worth a single household, then people drop and Netflix rethinks their pricing. |

But there is already a 2 screen or 4 screen limit on accounts, so sharing is limited already. I'm curious on their method to crack down, is it limiting TVs and dongles to connect to the same router? Will they not allow me to use my tablet at the gym?
https://help.netflix.com/en/node/123277 But basically I doubt they flag you if you use it periodically somewhere else. If you're constantly using it simultaneously at three different locations that's probably where they start cracking down. |

If you look at their homepage they have a section about "sharing your netflix" along with language that states that your netflix account is for a single household:

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
I think I mentioned it before, but I can see this plan backfiring...
I currently share my account with my youngest son. My oldest has his own account. I could add him to my account, as well, and split the cost with him. So we'd each pay slightly more than 1/2 of what we're currently paying. The only drawback would be if they didn't allow you to move a profile to an existing account. One of us would end up having to create a new profile in the 'master' account. Certainly a minor inconvenience for a decent price reduction. |
Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
The “home” feature better not be based on IP address like Hulu Live. Sometimes I have to reset my modem and it grabs a new IP address. I’m not going to pay a fee when Netflix thinks I’m someone else.
Unless, the “home” feature doesn’t allow two screens for two different IP addresses at the same exact time - except when paying the additional fee. I can roll with that. |
Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
Does Hulu live kick you off when you reset your modem and get a different dynamic IP? Nothing should be that strict unless they want a ton of complaints. I'd think they'd use a combination of approximate geolocation (which isn't exact of course), simultaneous use, what devices are connected and how often they connect. No way they should flag you for getting a new dynamic IP.
|
Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
If your modem gives you a new IP, the next time you launch the Hulu app, it asks you to set your new Home location. You’re allowed 4 “home” locations in a calendar year. Not entirely sure what happens after the 4th location change.
Of course, it does its job well of restricting password sharing. |

Ad Tier Netflix subscriptions apparently get screwed out of content
|
Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
Wow, I didn't even realize this was a thing, I assumed ad supported meant all content but with ads.
|
Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
Guess they are punishing the subscribers who are trying to save money and can’t afford the expensive tiers.
|
Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
I don’t know why this is being treated like shocking, out of left field news. They said last month when it was announced that “a limited number of movies and TV shows won't be available due to licensing restrictions, which we’re working on”.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
None of those shows listed in that tweet are Netflix owned.

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
Has the ad tier started yet? Who is advertising so far?
|
Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
I keep saying that if you can afford to eat out, fast food included, and buy Starbucks then you can afford the $19.99 tier plan.
