Disney+ and Apple TV+ are still too small to really say they're competition imo, though some people really do watch only Disney stuff.
I used the 4K plan more for the 4 streams (family members), and hell I bet they didn't really limit the HD plan to 2 streams.

Didn't they just raise prices mid-year last year? Or maybe it was early last year. This is bordering on cancellation territory for me. I only watch it for the big series they have. It may just be a situation where I sub for a month or two when something big comes out.
For me, once you cross that $20 threshold, i feel like it needs to be a service I use nearly daily.
Edit: Looks like the price change was Oct 2020

Their price increases are why I went from a full time subscriber to only tuning it on for a month every once in a while. This latest increase will just mean I do that less often too.
If anything, I think their price should go down. Their library isn’t what it once was, and Amazon has passed them in terms of better original content, in my opinion.

I’m leaning towards dropping it. A couple family members use my account I think, and without that I really don’t watch enough to justify the cost.

Netflix spent $17 billion in content (new and licensed in 2021) I have to assume the costs are going up into the 20s in 2022. The money to pay for the endless amount of shows that comes out every month has to come from somewhere. I know the average person and most here has busy lives and other expenses and limited hours for TV. So some of you can't justify the expense for something you don't use all the time. I love having endless options, but at some point, I ado agree it's a waste of valuable money to just keep spending for the sake of having it. I had to pull the plug on a couple of smaller services I had. $20/month with 4K is still not super expensive for me, but I know it does add up when you factor in HBO Max, Hulu, Peacock, Paramount+ and such.
At some point, the amount of regular subscribers will have to max out.

With this latest increase, we are thinking of dropping Netflix as it has hit a threshold and don’t find that it makes economic sense for our family anymore.

The average cable bill is $116. And it's mostly commercials, old movies, & fake reality shows. I get that it has a lock on sports, but the rest of it baffles me. On the other hand Netflix has great content, much of it in 4k, Dolby Vision/Atmos, commercial free. $20 is a comparative bargain.

You know Netflix is doing well because they still don't even have a discounted annual option to keep people from subbing a month at a time, dropping, then resubbing later.

Oddly enough, my billing cycle (Jan 19th - Feb 18th) was only charged $13.99 instead of the new price ($15.49).
I thought the new price was effective January 14th.

It's smart. Get all the uproar out of the way. Oh no, they're raising prices, I'm going to cancel!
Wait, they're not raising prices on me yet? I'll stay because it's like getting a discount, but I'm going to cancel as soon as they raise them.
Two months after the price gets raised: oh, just noticed they raised the price. Oh well, it's been two months and I guess I can afford it.

Netflix stock shed about 20% ($100 per share) in the market after hours today due to a membership miss and expected fewer members for the next quarter. Yikes ... wish I owned a few Puts

With onscreen logos and excessive commercials, MeTV also now crops for widescreen and uses motion-smoothing on many shows. I have the entire Rockford Files on Blu-Ray though, wish they'd also do Emergency.

For the record, they are testing this in three countries. The U.S. isn’t one of them yet.
