Ex-Machina...I always dithered on buying the blu when it would go on sale and never bought (have not seen the film) so now is a perfect opportunity to watch. I have always wanted to see this film but for one reason or another I have not found an opportunity to see it but now any obstacles (self-made or otherwise) are gone.

Alan Sepinwall wrote a big article about the pacing problems of the Netflix serialized originals. Many of you here have complained about this.
He mentions how some of these 13 episode shows are a slog to watch because of the pacing issues. And he thinks that some of these shows are handicapped because they have to fulfill an xx episode order.
There's some good points mentioned. it's a worthy read.
He talks to someone at Netflix about this.

Looks like Netflix is testing previews of other shows in between episodes as you watch multiples in a row. Following in cable's footsteps, they're starting to implement what amounts to commercials. Hopefully it tests extremely poorly, and they don't fully put it into production.

How do I tell them to test that with me so I can personally tell them it sucks?

Re: Netflix - News & Discussion
Like my opinion mattered for all their other wonderful "improvements" Such as:
1) Annoying background music plays while you try to browse the listings (I heard the explanation for this one is that Netflix wanted to simulate the visual and auditory chaos that one gets when channel surfing)
2) Movie/show plays starts playing instantly in the background after a second of just trying to read the show information
3) Interrupting credits with intrusive ads for other Netflix shows (which has been covered in another thread here)
4) Getting rid of useful 5 star rating scale for useless "thumbs" scale (after which the quality of recommendations Netflix has given me has tanked)
I guess it could be worse. I noticed Amazon Prime had an ad before a couple of movies I recently tried to watch. It's probably only a matter of time until that catches on with Netflix.
I will say that one new thing that streaming services starting doing in the last couple of years that I love is allowing downloading to mobile devices (fantastic for travel entertainment).

I would say that the Netflix originals are safe forever.
I guess they could take them down for other reasons like HBO did with Louis C.K.'s show, but if they left up House of Cards and The Ranch they'll leave up anything.

Look at how ABC disappeared Roseanne: Season 10. It was available on Hulu, iTunes, Vudu, Amazon, etc. The controversy hits and it's gone within a couple hours.

The Roku app was updated recently and I really like how you can choose to just look at movies or tv shows separately. They didn't have that until the last update.
