Re: The Roku Thread
Replacement unit has same Audio to Video sync problem as first unit. We can still overcome that by setting up a small audio delay in our other hardware. BUT this unit has another problem we likely won't be able to tolerate.
I think we got another bad unit. This unit is still running OS9.3. Not sure if OS9.4 will fix this issue as it could be hardware related. Very tempted to return this unit and go back to using our Roku 3 that has been a great unit for 4 years.

To me it just sounds like this new Roku 2020 has a compatibility issue with your TV.
Maybe you should just return it and try something like the new Google TV chromecast. It's 4K and is about $40 cheaper. Plus it has HBO Max and I believe Peacock as well.

Re: The Roku Thread
The first unit had only the audio video sync issue not the audio pop thump issue (although it bricked after 2 days).
I've also tested removing the audio connection between the TV and the AVR and the pop thump sound still exists on the TV speakers.
If it was a TV issue, then both units would have presented the pop thump issue when switching audio types.
We were really interested in getting both Dolby Vision and HDR on our accessible content (which the native apps on our TV already provide yet not all our providers have apps for our TV). The only other unit that provides both HDR and DV is an Apple TV which is much more expensive.
Likely to return this unit and go back to Roku 3 and forget any 4K on the providers to which we don't have apps on our TV.
I do appreciate the feedback and suggestions. We've been strong Roku Supporters for 8+ years (with nearly 200 channels we use). It seems this new Ultra 2020 might have issues as many threads keep popping up on the Roku community website.

Re: The Roku Thread
I have not been following the whole issue but I did notice a firmware upgrade the other day on my older Ultra. Now version 9.4. from 9.3. Might try and see what your, even new, model has and try to update if earlier.

Re: The Roku Thread
1st unit bricked after 2 days.
2nd and 3rd units have a popping thump noise when switching audio types.
All 3 units we've had will only output DV in 1080p due to being locked to 60fps for 4K which many TVs cannot accommodate yet as well as an AV sync issue where sound is ahead of the video (which can be overcome by adding a delay).
Has not updated to OS9.4 yet on any of them to validate if the popping thump is firmware or hardware related. No answer back from Roku.
Need to decide if we keep the unit hoping when 9.4 is installed the popping thump issue resolves or return. Or if since we run it direct to TV should we upgrade our AVR to have newer HDMI protocol to possibly overcome the popping thump noise. Or do we return it and keep using our solid Roku 3 till there is an acceptable Ultra that overcomes these issues.

Re: The Roku Thread
The Streaming Stick+ had Airplay added recently and is a huge game-changer. The best part about it is that it allows you to watch many services with NO annoyances- I activated Disney Plus again and it lets me watch the ENTIRE movie or show with full end credits, no ratings appearing at the beginning and NO "Skip Intro" prompt (though it does appear on my phone if I keep that on, if I ever wanted to press it.) I'll keep my subscription to it as long as this works, at least until the price goes up. The free FoxNow Roku app overlays a "FOX" logo bug but shows a clean picture through Airplay. I haven't tried Hulu yet (which overlays network bugs) but will when I can. Netflix being the assholes they are do NOT support Airplay, and some apps like Amazon Video and FandangoNow only support it half-assed only passing 2-channel sound and no 4K or HDR (the FandangoNow Roku app is free from annoyances anyways.) I'll also have to try out HBO Max since they still don't have any Roku app at all.
Seems funny Apple would let Roku add their technology, instead of keeping it exclusive to its own Apple TV units, but it's appreciated. My Marantz receiver already has Airplay for audio only which lets me play music off the iphone. If you try to use any video-related apps with that it only passes 2-channel audio and no picture.

Re: The Roku Thread
Finally got around to trying out Airplay on my Roku TV. It’s pretty nice now having this option to stream HBO Max. So far, so good on the stream to the TV, no issues or buffering.

And the best news of all- NO LOGO BUGS ON HULU! I'll actually keep my subscription after the trial this time. Passes Dolby Digital Plus also, they were lacking in that department for a long time.

Maybe good news for HBO Max? Grace Randolph, a movie pundit, retweeted this. But the article is on a paywall.

Now that their main competitor has an agreement with them, Roku almost has to cave as well.

Hopefully they can reach an agreement. I've been sitting on $60 in HBO cards from Best Buy's deal on them last Christmas. (And if they don't, Wonder Woman might be the first movie I see in the theater since The Rise of Skywalker.)

Oh I didn't realize you could use the HBONow gift cards and get HBOMax now. But according the faq you can. I'm sitting on some too.

Roku stock went up a lot (about $23 or 10%) based on that rumor.

The Roku channel will be adding AMC+ on Thanksgiving. It will be on sale for $5.99/month for the 1st 3 months.
So if anyone here wants to watch Gangs of London and then have access to Shudder, IFC Now and Sundance Now, here you go.

FYI, look out for the new FandangoNow Energizer commercial billboard for $4.99 off a rental. I found it a couple of days ago and used it to rent Fatman last night for $2,
