Here is a way to add the channel, but it is private and may get shut down: https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/how-...icial-channel/

I've used FOX Now to catch replays of programming I didn't catch on my DVR. But I always needed to log in through my provider.

Most on demand content was delayed a(week I think) before being unlocked for non TV subscribers. Live TV only worked for subscribers for most broadcasts. Some special events were free for Live also w/o a subscription.

FYI, this is the reasoning for shooting in 1080p w/ the upscale: https://www.theverge.com/2020/1/30/2...-roku-apple-tv

tl;dr it's technical limitations at this point

Latest email from Roku on the situation. Sounds like both are blaming each other.

The many ways to stream the Super Bowl on Roku devices & latest about FOX channels

Dear Roku Customer, On Sunday, you can stream the Super Bowl on Roku devices through FuboTV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and YouTube TV. Many offer free trials for new customers. We’ll also be running a Big Game Guide that makes things easy for you. If you are a Comcast or Spectrum TV cable user, the Game will be available on the Xfinity & Spectrum TV apps on Roku. Roku TV owners with an antenna can tune into broadcast TV.

The game will stream free on the NFL app on Roku unless FOX blocks your ability to stream it.

We don’t like FOX’s tactics and wish they had agreed to extend. But our agreement expires today. We are both disappointed and sad to see the FOX channels come down and will try to restore them.

We want your TV experience to be as simple as possible. There are many ways to stream the Super Bowl on Roku devices this weekend. We hope you enjoy the game.

Odd that during this Fox/Roku issue, I checked and somehow, perhaps totally unrelated, but my YouTube channel/app disappeared from my channel lineup. Easy to add back but strange it vanished since I view it daily.

So far this Fox Sports app feed is rock steady. No issues yet. Let's see what happens when the game starts though.

From Airy TV on Facebook. Another "live" streaming app. live.airy.tv
Go to: https://my.roku.com/account/add to enter code for private channel.

Attention Roku users! You can test Airy TV’s beta application with this code: XDTHQLV

PLEASE NOTE: We are slowly adding channels as we continue to test for quality control and loading times. Please let us know how we can improve and thank you for being patient as we anticipate the excitement of this new roll out for Airy TV.

EDIT: You need to log in to Roku via your normal login on a PC or phone and add the private channel as we are still testing.

Airy TV has packaged all of your entertainment needs into one place. Watch free movies, sports, reality shows, anime and more. We don't just curate channels, we are actively seeking what YOU want to watch. With Airy TV you don't always have to mindlessly put something in the background or browse for hours looking for something to watch, we've got it and if we don't we'll work hard to get it.
It's FREE TV: no subscriptions, no logins, no credit cards. We'll tell you upfront that there are light ads to power our free service.

I checked this out. The website has some good looking channels. But the Roku app sucks right now. There's only 7 channels available.

I got this message when I put the code in "THIS IS A NON-CERTIFIED CHANNEL. Roku requires all channels to abide by Roku’s terms and conditions, and to distribute only legal content. Roku does not test or review non-certified channels. You acknowledge you are accessing a non-certified channel that may include content that is offensive or inappropriate for some audiences. Moreover, if Roku determines that this channel violates copyright, contains illegal content, or otherwise violates Roku’s terms and conditions, then ROKU MAY REMOVE THIS CHANNEL WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE, AND YOUR ACCOUNT MAY BE BLOCKED FROM ADDING ANY OTHER NON-CERTIFIED CHANNELS.".

That appears to be the standard language ROKU uses for all Private Channels. I added airy.tv and other than having only about 7 channels available it seems to work fine (as of last evening).

Yeah I get that message every time I re-load the Pornhub app. It's standard.

My dad has a Roku something or other hooked to tv. Current version he says. He’s having a lot of trouble with Vudu on the device. I’m unfamiliar with Roku. Can he delete app, reinstall via Roku, set WiFi and will that work? Or is there something else he can do? Don’t believe happens with Netflix or Amazon. Just Vudu...

E Unit 03-15-20 08:52 PM

Re: The Roku Thread

Depends. Have him try that, or first have him go to the Roku main menu to settings, system, system update, and see if anything updates. Could be the firmware or app hasn’t been updated. And if he did those, then maybe the Roku may be having issues.

Also, it’d be really cool if you can provide more details than “having a lot of trouble” with the Vudu app. Does it not connect? Does it play then stop? Mas info.

Ask him to try the steps I suggested. Also, if he’s sharing your account, try removing it from your account, then having him log back in.

The YouTube app on Roku is buggy as hell. Every other day it stops down and says YouTube is not available at the moment. You can either close or cancel and then if you cancel it starts the video from the beginning.

I use the YouTube app on roku multiple times a day and never have any issues with it.

My Roku's YouTube app is best for some videos but the one in my LG TV is better for others. Wish they could get the best of both worked out on one of them.

This a cool little app for updating channels
https://www.rokuguide.com/private-ch...te-my-channels

It's a "private' unlisted channel. Works great and you don't have to reboot your Roku after you run it. Probably have to restart to get it to show in your library after installing it.

He’s so damn afraid he’s gonna screw something up and not get it back. I wish I could do it for him but they are quarantined and FaceTime would be a disaster...

Re: The Roku Thread

Check the Roku channel. There's a lot of free 1 month trials right now including Showtime, EPIX, Hallmark, Hi-Yah, Scream Box, Acorn TV Shout TV and much more.

I know most here don't have a lot of time to watch TV, but if you need some more content to watch in the next 30 days, there's plenty there.

One key thing to mention. If you've used a free 1 month trial on any of these providers in the past on Roku, you don't qualify for another.

Does anyone else use the "Roku Media Player" channel/app?

I consider it an essential channel and use it a lot to play media files but I never see it talked about much.
