Although they are still taking order as usual, Express.com filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last week. Express, formerly DVDExpress, became a major name in the .com retail industry by being one of the first companies to routinely sell DVD movies below cost, hoping to recover the loss through increased sales and an increasing consumer base. Rumors of financial trouble and a possible company closure have plagued the company throughout the dotcom fallout. Express marketing VP Susan Daniher had no comment for the press regarding the future of the company.
