OK, as previous posts mentioned:
I placed 3 seperate DVD orders on the same day (March 21)
For whatever reason, 2 were sent by media mail, 1 by 1st class.
One media mail arrived on Monday
The other media mail arrived on Tuesday
Today (Thursday) the 1st class one arrived.
So, Media mail was about 3 to 4 days shipping (200 miles from warehouse) and 1st class about a week. I'll take media mail any day of the week

Just received my "The 6th Day" dvd via media mail from Amazon. I got it with GCs for .44 cents delivered to my P.O. Box in NY, NY. I was thinking that was why it was shipped media mail but then I found this thread. Could it be because it was going to my P.O. Box?
It just bothers me that I am specifically paying $2.95 for shipping when it's only costing them less than the bulk rate for media mail (probably less than $1.30).

I have always been happy with media mail...Seems like most things take 5 days or less to get to my door step...I cant complain about that.
Hell, UPS takes that long for ground packes. Media mail is also cheap if you need to seel stuff online. $1.30 per VHS tape or DVD is not too shabby.
Any thing is better than the monkey eating your DVD and crapping it on your door step. LOL

I use PO Box because I hate when Amazon uses UPS Ground (5+ days) and I don't want my DVDs baked in my mailbox in the hot summer sun (when it's summer of course

I remember when I received my first DVD in my mailbox from Amazon, it was literally hot, after hours of baking in that sun toasted box.

True but what company actually does charge the right shipping price....I feel Amazon had always been pretty fair for shipping. I am sure if enough people complain they will make it a shipping option for a smaller fee.
I would not have a problem with Amazon shipping media mail for a free shipping promotion. Like buy 3 DVDs get them shipped free. Id be happy with that.
You are right though, they should not be charging first class rates for media mail.
