I ordered it on Wednesday, they chagered my bank card on that day and they say it's in....."DON'T YOU BELIEVE IT"

It took them 2 day to tell me it's out of stock and they WON'T charge me for the dvd till it's in stock. 3 things wrong with that

1. It was listed as IN STOCK when I oredered it

2. They DID charge my CC/Bank Card when they said they wouldn't

3. Wouldn't tell me that is was backardered untill I asked 2 days later.

This happen to anyone else? anyone else know where to get region free DVD's?

That's really weird. I bought 3 copies last Thursday, and have them on Monday. I love fedex. But they did charge my card on the day I ordered even thought they said they would WAIT until shipment.

I ordered from them and my local customs seized it when it landed here. They falsely underdeclared the value and the dvd were found to be a bootleg. Stay away from them.

Wow, where do you live? And what proof did they give to it being a bootleg?

Columbia-TriStar & Sony have only released a region 3 coded DVD. Any region 0 DVD is going to be a bootleg. That's why so many people are ordering the VCD.

I placed an order from GetVCDs on Wednesday last week, got an e-mail on Friday that they were out of stock (of a particular item that I won't mention for fear of the wrath of the pure and righteous here in the hallowed halls of DVDTalk), and that they should get more in this week. I e-mailed them Monday to find out the status of my order, and after re-emailing them Tuesday, and today I finally got a reply with a tracking number.

The best news? The package was on my doorstep today! They shipped 2/19 and it was delivered 2/20!

I'm a HappyBastid.

Hmm... My Hong Kong Media Universe version of The Killer has no such numbers as usually seen on the inner circle. Though I am sure the Media Universe version I have is quite legal. Does the lack of numbers necessarily mean its a bootleg? Seems debatable to me.

There's nothing wrong with that. Having no number is the same as having a 0. It just signifies region free.

Thats what I figured. Though I don't think Columbia/Tristar has authorized any region free DVDs of CTHD. As far as I know the only 'legal' version is the HK Region 3 version. If only I had met my relatives in HK They have all the 'fun' toys there.

I ordered Crouching Tiger from getvcds.com on Saturday night. They charged my card and shipped by FedEx on Monday. The DVD arrived Tuesday; must have crossed the international date line. I watched the movie last night. Can't beat that kind of service!

The DVD is legitimate according to today's Oakland Tribune: http://buzz.insidebayarea.com/balivi....asp?PUID=4396

'Crouching Tiger,' hidden DVD
SCRIPPS HOWARD

The Taiwanese film sensation ``Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" earned 10 Oscar nominations in the United States, but it was a relative bomb in Asia, where many decried its nontraditional portrayal of martial arts.

That and an earlier theatrical release than the United States explain why it's already available there on DVD.

The good news for U.S. fans who can't wait until summer for a stateside video release: A legitimate DVD, not a bootleg, from Malaysia can be played on most U.S. players.

Online retailer GetVCDs (http://www.getvcds.com), which sells authorized video CDs (VCDs) and DVDs in Asia and abroad, has been doing a brisk business selling the early-release ``Crouching Tiger" DVD to U.S. buyers. The company has restocked the disc several times to meet demand, although quantities have been limited, said customer support manager Leonard Ping Loo.

News of the ``Crouching Tiger" DVD first popped up in Internet fan forums when the U.S.-compatible disc was released several weeks ago.

Malaysia and China are notorious for producing illegal, poor-quality DVDs and VCDs of current and recent Hollywood hits, much to the chagrin of U.S. studios. But a spokesman for Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment, which eventually will release the U.S. DVD, confirmed that the U.S.-compatible ``Crouching Tiger" DVD being sold by GetVCDs is legitimate.

GetVCD sells the DVD for $15.99 - a sale price good through mid-March, Loo said - plus $8.99 for FedEx shipping (the only U.S. shipping option). A copy ordered by a U.S. reporter on a Monday arrived from Malaysia in three days.

Somehow, I still think that people just won't want to believe this story. They bought the R3 and are now stuck with it.

When you order from http://www.getvcds.com you get a VCD, right? Not a DVD...

Wow, I just looked it up and it looks like it IS a DVD. Anyone have any problems with it? I just picked one up...

I must be an exception but my first one had a big scratch on the disc. My replacement plays quite well though
