From: Mayberry, NC. Really, it is
I placed an online order Monday (Jan 22) at 1:33 pm (5 Vivid Wave titles @$4.99 ea, gotta love cheap porn
)- they shipped just 2 HOURS later via USPS Priority Mail and arrived at 1:30 pm Wednesday, a mere 48 HOURS after placing the order
Considering the sniping and complaining that we usually see in here, I just wanted to post a positive experience for a change.
Now if DVDEmpire would get into the coupon game ...

Definitely the fastest on-line retailer I have dealt with. Only retailer to get pre-orders to me by Monday. Also, I can order on Wednesday, they'll ship on Wednesday and I get it on Friday. Didn't they move their operations close to the airport or to some major shipping hub about a year ago.

I wouldn't be singing their praises too highly...just wait until something goes wrong . Like a lot of companies that go down the chute, DVD Empire is not committed to customer service. A significant number of Australian buyers did not receive their orders they placed October of last year and are still waiting for replacements. You take a risk with any company when you order but it's how fast and efficiently they respond when things don't go as planned is the key to a successful business.DVDEmpire gets 0 out of ten when it comes to customer satisfaction. Be warned!

If you’re outside the US I’d advise you to order with caution from these people and always use the registered FedEx option because packages sent regular mail seem to have a habit of never arriving. Once bitten, twice shy for me.

Fhrx, Package containing their mispriced Universal Monsters set ($70odd) and other discs shipped mid September and still had not arrived before Xmas. Had to wait the full 12 weeks and pull a few strings via some old contacts at DVDEmpire to get them to re-ship but I was stuck paying the FedEx courier charge of an extra $45 on top of the previous $30 I had paid for postage via USPS on the first package which still has not arrived.
My take on it is they never sent the first shipment containing the Monsters set because they didn’t want to lose money on the mis-price. Consequently they get to stick me with two shipping charges and make up a little of the shortfall. Now we’re late January and the original package still has not arrived and I’m willing to bet, never will. The only upside is that the second shipment was sent with a $0 declared value as it was supposedly a replacement order, so no customs charges which I fully anticipated paying on the first package.
I will not be using them again.

DVD Empire is A+ in my book. Their pre-order manager makes it very easy to move titles around according to release date (very helpful since release dates change so often!). It is also very easy to cancel DVD's off of pre-order if you find the title cheaper else where.
They usually ship pre-orders the Friday before so always a good chance you'll receive your titles before street date.
And best of all, NO sales tax to Calif!!!

Here's a lovely story about DVD Empire....A month ago I ordered Dead Man, also in my shopping basket I had a porno, but when I went to check out I was bluntly told that I live in a state---PA---where pornographic material cannot be sold or distributed (whatever)....Strange, considering DVD Empire is located in PA. Ironic, isn't it?
Hmmm...what the heck would people in this state do without their porn?
