Hi all. I'm a little fed up with Amazon right now - they gave me an invalid UPS tracking number (and they ship kinda late on preorders). I've been using them because of their good customer service and the Amazon pay-to-click GC's I've been getting. I'm considering switching most of my DVD purchases to Towerrecords.com (since FreeRide and Firstlook both offer Tower GC's), and I wanted to hear about your experiences with them. Prices, service, delivery time, etc. Any info and opinions would be appreciated. Thanks!
P.S. - I did a search in this forum for Tower Records, but I came up empty. If there's another thread about this elsewhere, you can just point me to it.
Just thought of this, too - if you know of any other good online stores for which GC's are offered through Freeride and/or Firstlook, that would help too.

Tower is great unless you get a special order item. I've gotten about $200 in stuff from them over the past six months and only had a problem with some special order items that were cancelled or held-up shipment.
Prices are so-so, if you have to pay tax it's yuck, if the free shipping banner at spumco is still working it's a good deal.
They accept Flooz and for payment you can combine flooz, cc, gift cards etc...
Rarely do they offer coupons (they used to have a $5 one at E-centives, take a look).

I had a butch of Flooz (from the send 50 get 50 more promotion) and used Tower with no problem. Prices are not the best though.

Tower Records sent me a bad copy of This is Spinal Tap (without the subtitles) and now I'm supposed to send it back at my cost, hope they credit me the correct amount for return shipping and then wait 3 weeks for a replacement copy which may or may not be defective too.
The CSR said they have 100+ copies on hand. Who knows if those are the defective copies or not.
Last time I use these jokers.

I've ordered a lot from Tower since they are one of the only DVD e-tailers to accept Flooz. I am very happy with them. If they are going to have trouble supplying something, you usually know by looking at the stock status. It usually takes them a while if it says low or out. I had a problem with a pre-order of Galaxy Quest and they fumbled the ball several times but satisfied me in the end. Always apologetic (but not too good about returning phone calls!) Every other order I have placed has been promptly filled.
They are usually 25% off list. Right now, with $5 off, the cheaper DVDs are a bargain and others are a pretty good deal.

Tower is awesome! If they say something is in stock, it's in stock. If it's not...don't order it.
I usually get rare CD's when they're listed as "low stock" (and I usually eye the item for weeks)...after they ship it, the item goes to "special order". I've done this a couple times, so I think it proves their inventory system is pretty precise.
Tower is probably my favorite etailer for CD's and DVD's right now. Especially with Firstlook Flooz and the $5 off $9.95 coupon

If you order a DVD that says "in stock" there is a 95% chance that it will ship the next business day! (based on my experience).
Tower updates their inventory listing once a day so it is indeed very accurrate.

Tower is getting better with their DVD prices. Much better than say a month or two ago. Check the bestsellers section and you'll see a bunch of DVDs from $9.99 on up.
There is another thread somewhere that has someone listing the lower priced DVDs.

I've made a few purchases without any hitch. They have a nice live chat system. If an item says low stock and you're unsure whether or not to order, just chat with a csr and ask her to check the inventory for you; she'll tell you exactly how many are left so you can decide it's worth the risk.
