What does "shipping soon" mean from these guys? That day? When they feel like it? I placed an 0rder with free shipping last week and most of it has said "1 on hand ready to ship" for a week. Those items are now "Shipping soon." Anyopne know what they are waiting for?

In my experience, when the status of my order has changed to shipping soon, they shipped it 1-2 days afterwards. Hope it helps.

The same thing happened to me. I called 2 times about the same thing. On the second time that I called the women told me she would send an email to the shipping dept. to mail the item out immediately. They shipped it the next day.
You should also check to see if you have been billed for the item.

Not neccesarily true.... I saw the same exact message for 7 days.
Its probably just because of the holidays....

In order for you to receive your order, it has to print (at the warehouse), by picked, and then packed, and then picked up for shipping.

My guess would be that "on hand" means it has printed at the warehouse and the inventory has been commited, and "shipping soon" means that the order is either being, picked from the shelves, packed, or is waiting to be picked up by the shipper.

Well, my order has been at "1 on hand - shipping soon" for over a week. I called today (one of my many inquiries) and am awaiting a response. However, I noticed on my order they credited the remainder of the balance, and took the item off of "1 on hand" to "not shipped yet."

Now I wish I had gotten the better receiver.

Well I ordered some speakers for my parents on 12/3. The availibilty was "usually ships in 24 hours", and they still haven't shipped, and it still says that. I called earlier this week, and they gave me the old "that's a hot item, and I'll upgrade your shipping to 2nd day for free". I guess the "usually" part of that applies here. :B

Well, the shipping was free anyways, but I need these to arrive at my parents house before Christmas. I'm not counting on it. I've used Amazon for years, but this may be the last time, unless they offer up something to make me trust them again (i.e. GC's). Thanks for reading - I needed to vent.

Same story as naitram. Iíve had an order "1 on hand" for three days now and being international thereís no way Iíll get it before Xmas as it still hasnít shipped nor is there any sign it will soon. Whatís more unforgiveable is that Amazon still hasnít replied to my mail from 2 days ago. They screwed up my last order by shipping late and overcharging me for shipping and now they do this to me!

And I donít accept the BS about this being a "busy time of year". The real test of any etailer or retailer is how it copes in busy times and the percentage of orders it deals with effeciently vs the ones that slip throught the cracks.

I pay for most of my orders with cash and the odd GC which helps cut down the shipping costs but I donít feel as though Iím getting any kind of quality of service any more, the much praised CS sucks as far as Iím concerned but then I never thought it was great to start off with.

I made this order because I had a promo GC to burn (just for $10 though) but once this ships out it will be the last time Amazon get to debit my card.

Hmmmm! Let's vote Amazon's to get the online store grinch of the year award 2000, and deservedly so. I can't wait to hear (read) the barrage of excuses they dish out over this.

I was angry with them for holding my "usually ships in 24 hours" order for 96 hours before changing to "shipping soon" where it's been for the past 48 hours.

But, Naitram, since Dec. 3, they've dangled you... I feel for you.

I guess I had better look for something to replace those gifts for the children.

Thanks amazon (NOT!). The real pity is this was my first (ans last) order from them. You'd think they'd try to at least make a good impression with a "new" customer.

ANDREMIKE Thank you for posting their phone number, I'm ususally good at finding #s on etailer sites but the @#[email protected]# Amazon number is not easily found. I figured the easiest way to find it would be to search this forum. Nice surprise to find it in my own thread. Order placed 12/8, on hand since then all but 1 item. Ready to ship since 12/14, me

Yeah - Amazon really needs to get their act together this holiday season. I placed an order on 12/13 for a phone (gift for the future in-laws), a printer (also a gift) and two sets of cheap headphones (to get over $200 in electronics so we could use the coupon). All were "Usually ships in 24 hours." Well, the "good" news is that the headphones shipped in 24 hours . So I call on 12/14 to ask what the deal is, and the monkey on the phone tells me that I should cancel my order and order something "less questionable" if I really want to get it by christmas. At this point, both items are STILL saying "Usually ships in 24 hours" on the site - plus if I cancel I'll have to pay for the stupid headphones that we'll probably never use. So I basically tell him thanks anyway, and I call back the next morning. This time I get someone intelligent on the phone, and she checks in the system and tells me that although they are running out of these items (the phone is now out of stock on the site, and the printer is "Ships in 1-2 weeks"), that they do have product dog-eared for me, and I should get it before christmas, no problem. She upgraded my shipping to 2-day air for free. As of half an hour ago, the printer has shipped (this morning) and the phone STILL says "Usually ships in 24 hours" !!! I'm still holding out on this one, though - either they will come through, or they will make it up to me big time!

Well, while I was on the phone for 45 minutes waiting on hold listening to VERY ANNOYING music and advertising, I was able to: Sweep the upstairs, start the laundry, bring some wood inside and unload the dishwasher. So I guess it wasn't totally unproductive to wait for those Arseh***s to tell me my order was too far into the queue to alter thanks for nothing Scamazon.

I have a big order waiting to ship too, and have given up an thinking I'll get it for Christmas.

The weird thing is that I place a big order with these guys pretty much each month (books, mostly), and they are typically very agressive about shipping. They'll ship what they have now and follow up with the other items shortly after. This is one of the reasons that I order from them -- they don't make you wait too long for an order.

This is the longest time I've ever had to wait for an order from these guys. Somehow, they seem to have gotten themselves in a bind for this Christmas season, which is sad. These guys set the standard for customer responsiveness (IMO) and slipping up on it NOW, after all of these years is just heartbreaking.

I ordered a DVD on Nov 10 - and the "IN stock-shipping soon" has been showing since then. They won't let me cancel either, since it has "entered the shipping process." So, I'll just be putting 'return to sender' on it.

I just placed an order a couple of days ago for 3 DVDs. 1 was in stock & 2 were listed as shipping in 2-3 days. I chose to have them hold all & ship together but they sent me an e-mail saying they had shipped the 1 disc separately at no extra charge - so they're not all bad... It does make me wonder if I'll ever see the other 2 discs though.

It has really been amazing how much Amazon has gone downhill this month -- which would seem like an awful time for them to lose their reputation, given the need to become profitable in the near future and whatnot. I thought I read that they were hiring a bunch of new staff and getting geared up for the holidays -- apparently not . . . .

I have been an extremely loyal Amazon customer in the past, but have lately been using other vendors who are now more reliable, even when slightly more expensive.

At least they did OK on shipping out the Playstation 2 to me -- which definitely would have been my pick for the reliable service.

Surprisingly, I haven't seen any stories about this in the mainstream press, which otherwise seems to be all over anything that happens to Amazon.

From what I have been reading here, I have had the worst experience so far in regard to waiting for my item to ship. I ordered the JVC RX-8000VBK receiver on 12/1/2000. It still has not shipped, continues to say "1 on hand" for my order status or "shipping soon". I've called three times in the last couple weeks. One CSR said to hang on, I'd get it before Christmas. Another said the same. The third CSR (order specialist) says they damaged the only one they had and as soon as they get it, it would ship to me before Christmas. Order has been put on 2-day air shipment. I'm worried the receiver isn't gonna make it for arrival by Christmas since UPS doesn't ship here on saturday (even though they are based operations in KY where I am). To make matters confusing, one CSR created me a new order with just the receiver, so my account shows two separate orders. I don't know which one I am suppossed to be watching, but both have different expected delivery dates that differ by a day. If they send me two receivers, that'd serve them right for inaccurate status info on my order, but I would just be happy with one receiver. I've been waiting for 17 days now for an item that said "usually ships in 24 hours and "select any shipping method to have this item by Dec 22nd". It feels like I will not get the receiver by Christmas. All I got so far was upgraded shipping for 2-day. They are gonna need to ship it faster than to get it to me by Christmas (coming out of Seatle a rep said), judging by the speed of an item that is "usually available in 24 hours". Hurry up Amazon! It is hard to be patient!

I have an order for a back massager and a leaf blower which I ordered about 2 weeks ago. They were both "Ship in 24 hours" items. The leaf blower shipped today, but the other item is still in waiting. I called and complained, and got a $20 Promo GC for my troubles. Can't beat that.. and I'm really in no big hurry to get the items before Christmas.

I ordered a gift for Xmas, specifically picked an item because it said in stock, will receive by 12/25. It's shown ready to ship for a couple weeks, and I just got an email saying it may or may not be shipped in time for Xmas.
It looks like they're blowing it again for the holidays. Glad I don't own their stock.

Well, they FINALLY shipped my receiver. So, now they've paid me to get the receiver. It was a Pioneer VSXD409 100W DTS/DD receiver which was 249.99 on the site. Free shipping, $150 MCI, $50 off electronics, $36 in GC's from Freeride. They paid the balance off, and are sending me a $20 GC for my inconvenience...

Hmmm...gotta love it!

I've been a loyal amazon customer for a long time now, and I am not sure I will ever buy from them again. If you want a good story sit back, cos it's a long one

On 12/15 we ordered the KLH-9006 speaker system for our new big screen tv, which totalled $199.99, so to receive the $50 off $200 promo we also ordered batteries. When we placed the order for the speakers, the availability was "Ships within 24 hours" and our order confirmation said "1 on hand, shipping soon."

Yesterday we got the batteries in the mail, and still no shipping confirmation for the speakers. When my husband wrote about the status of our order we got an email in reply saying the speaker order has been cancelled because the stock is "out of print." I didn't realize you can print speakers! haha!!

To top this off, our gift certificate account balance is now zero, even though we used the $150 MCI GC, of which only $5 has been used for the stupid batteries we didn't even want!

I'm sorry, but this just isn't good enough. Our order status has been shipping soon since we placed the order and now it's gone? Where are the speakers? After checking their electronics department, it seems the majority of their merchandise is either currently not available or back ordered. This applies to the Receivers section that someone mentioned ordering from in a previous post.

So not only don't we get the speakers, but we have so far gotten screwed out of our $150 MCI gift certificate. Come on Amazon, get it together!!! Did they lose a major electronics supplier or something??

And don't you just love the end of their email telling us that they have cancelled our order...."we hope this doesn't cause any inconvenience." I won't repeat what my husband said about THAT!!!!

Looks like no JVC RX-8000VBK receiver before Christmas. Amazon finally got it shipped out, but without much thought they shipped it next day air instead of the second day air they previously had upgraded the shipping to. The problem with this is that although it shipped thursday at 12 noon and I waited all friday afternoon for UPS, it never came, so I called Amazon again. The rep said "I don't know why whoever finally got this shipped to you had the shipping changed to next day when they should have had it changed to saturday delivery to get to you by Christmas" (as advertised on the amazon site when I ordered). Unfortunately the receiver won't make Christmas delivery because UPS tracking shows the lazy asses won't ship it until December 26th. UPS had a whole 31 hours from when it first shipped to get it to me within 24 hours (aka Next day shipping), but they didn't. Amazon tried thei darndest to get it to me before Christmas. I asked if they'd apply free shipping on an order on my fiance's account. She ordered me a Audiosource SW-15 subwoofer last night. Turns out I get an e-mail a few hours later from Amazon with an apology and statement that they'd tack on free shipping to the sub. The sub costs $36 to ship! So the receiver is a day late, but it was very cool for Amazon to keep upgrading shipping and extremely cool of them to conceed to my wish for free shipping on the subwoofer. Now as soon as I get the receiver and sub, I will be overjoyed. Besides Whatshownow.com, this is the longest I have ever waited for an online order. Incidently I am still waiting for 9 DVDs from WHN from LAST January. I don't expect to ever get them. At least with Amazon, they tried to make a bad situation good multiple times. I coulda asked for a $20 gift cert like many of you, but I figured asking for free shipping was worth a shot. In this case, it looks like it worked out for the better.

I ordered a product on 12/12. 'Said it would ship in 2-3 days but it still hasn't done so. Finally had to cancel it and get it at a B&M. First time amazon has let me down like that.
