I've had a Mission Impossible 2 disc either propping up some wherehouse guys wobbly table, or someone is using it as a frisbee. After numerous calls to customer service and "order specialists" they all tell me the same thing. "Well, it looks like it's "prepared" to ship, so it should go out any day now." Jeez! I placed my order with them the day it was put up on the site. This is the first problem that I've had with them ever. Should I just cancel and go buy it at a B&M? I really wanted it from Amazon b/c of a gc that I had, but this is getting a little ridiculous. Anyone else had any problems similar to this?

If it is listed as shipping soon, you really do not have many options other than patience and return if you don't want it. Lately, some items have remained in "shipping soon" for two-four days. Complain bitterly . Who knows, they may send you a gift certificate.

This year amazon has been one problem after another..iv spent hours on the phone the past couple nights and mornings

1,they shipped the wrong kitchenaid mixer(color)
2,my GC money(promo)for some reason is being held by the computer after i cancel part of an order...it does not go back into my account...
iv lost out because of me not having my GC monies back in my account,50.00 kitchen coupon,a vacuum cleaner has gone up in price,im sitting here with the wrong color mixer, they have 170.00 of my money, and so-on....it has really been a nightmare from hell....every time i call i wait, tell my story and get transferred, only to be told we will get back to you..they never do

the only reason im putting up with this is because everything is free otherwise id be really pissed....

I just went through a similar problem with a GC hanging up in an order were I cancelled one item. I called customer service 3 times trying to put the GC back into my account without any success. I finally had to cancel the whole order and reorder it. Unfortunately, I have several similar stories of problems with Amazon customer service and site problems that have happened to me over the past few months.

My copy of Gladiator is listed as "1 on hold" still. (I preordered it on 10/13, street was 11/20 and they have it listed as ships in 24 hours.)

I started with email, which ended up giving me a credit on the shipping. Still hadn't shipped yet, so I called them, and now am supposed to be getting a $10 promo gc. I'm expecting a reply on the status today, otherwise I'll be calling them again tomorrow.

FYI: 800 201-7575. And usually you need to talk to an "order specialist" to get any kind of action taken.

Here is my Amazon order status fiasco.

I have numerous orders in varying stages of who knows what.

Order 5 barbie dolls, all shipped out 2 days later. Two arrived 3 days later the rest have not arrived yet.

Ordered 2 Pda cases, a stylus 5 pack, a cd-rom burner, & a video cable. Used a $50 off of $200 coupon. The Pda cases & stylus 5 pack have shipped. The other two items are 1 on hand - shipping soon status, been like that for about 4 days.

Ordered two Pda's one finally shipped on Monday and I received it yesterday. Took them about 12 days to ship this particular order.

The 2nd Pda was in the 1 on hand - shipping soon status as of yesterday. I just checked and it now says usually ships in 24 hours. I did call Amazon.com Monday about cancelling another order and asked them about this particualr order. They told me it was being shipped from their Kentucky distribution center and would go out Tuesday. They also gave me a $20 promo gc, here it is Friday and it sill has not shipped. This item better get to me by Christmas, if it doesn't I am going to be very pissed. I brought both my daughters a pda for Christmas and it looks like I might end up with only one of them. What am I supposed to do have them pick straws to see who gets the one I have on hand now.

Ordered a Sega Dreamcast and it still says ships in 24 hours.

I am almost afraid to use the other $50 off $200 coupon and order a couple of 8 meg springboard cards, fearing I will never see them before christmas.

Once all my gift certificates are used up I will kiss Amazon.com good-bye for good.

I called them today about Neon Genesis Evangelion: 2 that was listed as "on hand" yesterday morning and not yet received later in the day. I usually call them in the early morning because it takes so long to get to and through the order specialist. I keep a couple of browser windows open, one for the order, and a few others for surfing. Annoying as it is, I have been ordering from them since January 1997 and have yet to have them fail to make things right in the end.

I originally tried to handle my problem via email. I was receiving responses within about a day.

You could always try calling them. I posted their 800 number above.

Good luck.

The same thing has happened with my last two orders! One I had to call 6 times before it was shipped, and the current one I just wanted to see how long it would take to get shipped. It took 2 weeks before it was shipped. I inquired why, and they said that it was 'damaged' when it was being shipped. The were 'supposed' to email me, but they never did, and to expect two charges on my credit card and one cancelation! I am fed up with Amazon, that was my last order...unless they pull another "Insider".

Here's the email response to my order problems with them:

quote:
Per our phone conversation, I have asked our distribution center to
investigate the delay of your order #xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx.

I have been assured that your order will be processed soon. However, I
will continue to monitor it's progress.

In addition to our large selection, one of the benefits we'd like to
offer our customers is convenience, and we have not met that standard
in this case. Please accept my sincere apologies.

Please let us know if you have any further questions, and thanks for
shopping at Amazon.com!

This is suck! I have been waiting for my Mission Impossible 2 disc for like a friggin' month. The only reason I ordered it from here was because I had gcs. I'm almost tempted to cancel and go to a B&M. If nothing happens within the next 3 days, that's what I'm going to do.

Here's one ... My PS2 bundle.

Shipped out ... and never arrived (still floating in UPS transit hell ... don't get me started on UPS). I wrote them on Dec. 4 and asked what's up, Well I receive an e-mail about a day later telling me to basically hold out hope until Dec.1 (yes,I wrote them on the 4th and they tell me write back on the 1st).

Anyway so I write back and very late last night I receive confirmation that they're sending out another bundle and they're sorry.

Well according to Amazon and the tracking number it's waiting to be picked up by UPS by 2-Day Air and maybe I'll see it Tuesday.

We shall see ...

I think most of these problems are due to the increased number of outside distributors Amazon is now using. I don't think their "real time" inventory is real time any more.

It is very sad to see Amazon deteriorating like this. I have had problems with the last 5 orders I've placed with them...ranging from shipping damaged goods, to not shipping at all. In addition, their email correspondence & response time has degraded terribly.

They used to be someplace I could trust.

I have the same problem as beastieboyfl
. I was told my JVC RX-8000VBK receiver was damaged and I should have received an e-mail indicating that. Never received the e-mail. I've been waiting on it since 12/1, have written once with no response and called 3 times. They finally got me talking to an order specialist today that says my receiver was damaged in shipping and they were waiting to obtain a new one to ship to me. She said I should definitely get it by Christmas. They did upgrade my shipping to two-day air. I sure hope it comes in time. This is very frustrating as you can still order the receiver and it says they have one on hand in my order status. It is like they are not being completely honest. It is like me saying I have a Sony Playstation 2 for sale, just haven't gotten to the store to buy it for you yet.

I've been fortunate, haven't had any problems with them. But my theory about their shipping problems is it stems from a combination of things. First, they have entered too many new product lines they are ill-prepared to deal with. They should have stuck with books, movies and music. My guess is they don't even have their own inventory of anything else, but use distributors. Second, with the holidays, and their incessant advertising, they are now being swamped with more orders than they can possibly handle. Hence, many orders are being farmed out to outside distributors. Then I think some of the distributors they are using are not very reputable, as the bigger places are already overbooked for the holidays. Basically, your order may be fulfilled by Joe Bob's DVD and Chicken Feed Wholesaler.

ZDnet or any of the other netzines and news organizations that track places like Amazon, should do an article on how bad shipping is. After last Christmas, with all the problems everyone had, all the e-tailers (the survivors anyway) said they would improve. From the sound of things, they may have gotten worse.
