Honestly, depending on how often one buys from Best Buy and what their "exclusive members only pricing" may be, the $49 dollar tier may not be a bad deal. Free 2-day shipping and reduced pricing on stuff.
free 2 day shipping and reduced prices on (some) stuff.

It almost sounds like they want to turn into a members-only club like Sam's or Costco.

Yes. Like I said, whether it is a deal or not depends on what one buys and what stuff gets discounted.

Oh I mean even the 2 day shipping is not on every item.

Best Buy is basically like Hallmark stores now. They must be so lean and so well invested that they don’t need a lot of sales to keep going.

The 49 dollar tier will assuredly have you trying to buy more stuff from Best Buy than you currently do as a feeling of an obligation to get your money's worth. I know I won't be signing up. I do, however, use the my BB card for more purchases outside of BB than inside.

re: My Best Buy Membership Program

I got an email that my Reward Cert was getting ready to expire. I don't remember receiving an email that I got one. So, I logged in and had a $10 cert.
Decided to buy a box of baseball cards.

I mean they still sell movies online, right? And even if it's in store I can't imagine a box of baseball cards taking that much space (and the collectible card market is like really in demand right now for some reason)

No, they don't even sell movies online at BestBuy.com anymore.

They exited the home video market entirely in Q1 2024.

My first choice was to get k-cups, but I couldn't find any with a good price per cup. Even though I had $10, not going to overpay. lol

But yep, no movies there anymore.

If anyone's interested in the cards. Didn't get anything great. Base cards of Ohtani, Judge, and Trea Turner. Some RC's of players I didn't recognize. 1 of the insert cards was valued ~$9, but I can't remember what it was.

re: My Best Buy Membership Program

I got an email today from Best Buy about a $5 reward I have available.

I know they don't have any physical media anymore and I'm not in the market right now to upgrade or buy any new electronics or devices. $5 off would be a nothing discount anyway. So basically it's worthless.

Yeah, those are good for free (or nearly free) flash drives, cables, and chargers. But not much else.

I got one too, recently, decided it was pretty much worthless for the same reason. I'm considering unsubscribing from their emails as well. If I need electronics I can just go to the store or website and look, their email isn't going to suddenly make me want to buy a new TV...

Re: My Best Buy Membership Program

I used my $5 reward on a video game. That's about the only thing I order from Best Buy anymore.

Best Buy has a few games on sale. So you get can get these games even cheaper with your reward. I used my certificate to get Unicorn Overload for $24.99

Here's the most notable titles on sale:
Unicorn Overlord $29.99
Metaphor: Refantazio $49.99
Persona 3 Reload $24.99
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth $24.99

There's also some Sonic games on sale. Here's the link to all the titles: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchp...l%20Categories

I ended up having $15 in rewards and used it to buy some ink cartridges for my printer. At least it’s practical.

Re: My Best Buy Membership Program

I never signed up for any rewards program with Best Buy, even a free one. Regardless, they've sent me a couple random $10 certificates since last summer. One of them I used on a pre-order, but the item was canceled on the day of release - despite it being in stock on the website. Under the circumstance, I thought it would be simple to get the discount reinstated if I chatted in to customer service and placed a new order. Well, forget about that. I got absolutely nowhere and it felt like I was communicating with an AI bot. I tried to escalate the matter, but kept getting transferred and asked for the same information over and over again.

This went on for a whole damn hour before they told me that it was a promotional offer and could not be reinstated, but advising me to call and speak directly to their "dedicated department with advanced tools that specialize in handling reward certificates." Yeah, no thanks. I'd rather pull my hair out than waste another minute going in circles over a measly $10 coupon. I realize they don't have to issue any discounts, but it's frustrating to see my item canceled on the day of release while it's still in stock on the website. If there are no measures in place to correct something as basic as that, the company deserves to go under.

I received a $10 gift certificate. It's good until the end of the month.

Re: My Best Buy Membership Program

I saw the post about the random reward certificate last week. Checked email (including my junk folder) and didn't see anything.

Had an e-mail at 8:07 AM today saying "Don't forget about you're reward certificate" -- $10 was there.
