UPS is "OK". Considering they cost more than USPS *and* take longer, they suck. When Amazon ships DVDs via UPS, they always seem to come from Oklahoma somewhere and get tied up at some big hub in Kansas for over a day so it ends up taking 5 business days to get from OK to MN. Ridiculous. USPS priority mail is a flat $3.00+tax and guaranteed in 2-3 days. You can probably ship up to 3 DVDs for that price (possibly more, I don't know what the size/weight restrictions are) and no doubt places like Amazon get cut rates. There's simply no excuse for using UPS for DVDs.

I suspect that they get a cut rate from UPS and not USPS. But yes UPS is suck. With USPS It's a 2 lb limit for $3.20 Priority Mail and the DVD's are about 5oz each, so you do the math.

Remember the pic on the DVD Bargain thread, of a accident between a Fed Ex truck and a UPS truck? Was that you?

I don't know where you people live, but I've never had a problem with UPS. In fact, when buy.com used to ship UPS, I'd get my DVDs a day faster than with their USPS service. Though I'd have to say both were very fast delivery times.

ups sucks big time, those carriers never ring the doorbell when they bring packeges for me, they just leave the packages by the front door, right underneath the doorbell, and they cant even raise their f**king lazy hands and hit the doorbell, and 8 out of 10 times, someone is home. they are suck big time, i swear to god, one day they gonna piss me off enough to pull one on them, and tell them i never receive a package--someone steals it.

I saw that picture, hehehe. I am only 21, so I haven't come close to gaining senority to begin driving. Right now I unload or sort packages. I can see people having trouble with big boxes being shipped to them, but all letters and small packages (DVD size boxes, etc) are shipped in huge bags to us. If the packages are secure or well padded it will make it to the destination in great shape. The companies that packages their products are half way at fault for damaged products/packages. We have A LOT of packages that arrive at our warehouse open. This usually is due to the company using cheap tape or no tape, so the first thing we have to do is tape them up. Obviously with open packages some of the contents will fall out(usually a document or something small like screws) and not be found until later, or damaged while they fall out. If a company would just secure its products (both outside AND inside), UPS would have 75% of its problems with damaged packages removed. I never had a problem with UPS before I worked there either by the way.

Yes, UPS service is really bad. 100% of the time, I receive my order quicker if it ships via USPS priority mail. This time Amazon shipped my U-571 to Northern California and it is being rerouted to Los Angeles. They don't deliver on Saturday, so may be I will get it on Monday.

UPS is pissing me off too. I ordered a PS2 from ToysRUs a long time ago. They shipped it on Wednesday. It sat in the f-ing Tennessee wherehouse for 2 days. They finally got around to shipping it on Friday. Now it won't show up until next Wednesday. Fokkers!

I don't know about elsewhere, but my friend used to work at the Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix AZ loading planes. He tells me that UPS has very strict handling requirements - they are much better than FedEx. As far as losing packages - UPS has done that to me too. FedEx has damaged packages though - and I'd much rather have a package late than broken. USPS is the worst.

Its UPS Ground. Ins in transit to Westlake, so unless they accidently ship it to Brazil, I'll have it Moonday (Been Watching Office Space).

All air packages are handled with the best care. I have maybe seen one or two packages out of thousands arrive to our warehouse open.
Next day air and 2nd day air is the way to go.

Believe it or not i trust USPS more then UPS any day of the week. Not only do they deliver on saturdays for no additional charges, the stuff actually gets there when its supposed to in 2-3 days. Now UPS- When a service says gets there by the end of the business day monday it dosnt mean tuesday afternoon/night which UPS thinks it does for some reason. Thats living in NYC. I could imagine living in the middle of nowhere waiting for a package.

The only thing I absolutely hate about UPS is their tendency to double-park when they make a delivery.... half the time when a lane of traffic is blocked in front of me, it is the result of a UPS delivery.

Funny how most of us are saying we actually like the US Mail. Hehe.
At any rate, yes, the USPS is much better than they used to be, and Priority Mail has changed things very quickly.
The thing about UPS which pisses me off (not only their slow delivery) is that the local office where they hold my packages is 25miles away, even though they have a distribution center/counter only 3 miles away. They refuse to hold items for me at that counter. They suck.
