I've read some some posts warning people not to keep a high GC balance in your Amazon account. But I know there are many that seem to keep a high balance. "High" can be a relative term so lets say above $500.
Of course the downside is that if you don't deposit them right away, you don't know if they're good or not. There is also the possibility that you might lose it via a crash or something if you store all your email locally.
I don't see why Amazon would care or imagine what can happen so I'm curious. Does anyone have any bad stories to tell for having a high Amazon GC balance carrying over for several months (6 months or so)?

I've had a high GC balance at Amazon a few times w/o problems. I doubt anything will happen.

It's probably safe on their servers than in an email account anyway.

Non-promotional Amazon GC's expire a year after date of issue, even if they're deposited into your GC account - so just make sure you don't keep them in too long.
