Sometimes Amazon do come through. I like the bit about the new copy being more expensive. Sometimes you can get a bargain at Amazon these days. :-)
Cheers,
Jon.
Greetings from Amazon.com.
Thank you for writing to us regarding this defective DVD you received.
I'm sorry to hear that the DVD you received has this problem with the
audio track.
A new pressing of this DVD is going to be released September 25. I have
created a replacement order (#xxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx) that will contain the
new pressing of this DVD that will be shipped once it is released via
international priority at no charge to you. The replacement version is
more expensive but we will be happy to cover that additional expense in
this case.
As shipping costs are prohibitive in this case, we will not ask for the
return of this defective movie.
I apologize for this inconvenience, and thank you for shopping atAmazon.com!

Hmmm...Interesting. They are sending me a new one as well, it even appears on my order status, but they asked me to return the original after I receive the replacement. They said they'd send along a prepaid postage sticker. Oh well.

Oh, I don't know - I got it at the cheaper price AND don't have to pay the additional single postage charge ($6). They could have refunded the money and made me order it again (which would have really pissed me off).
Cheers,
Jon.

Is this occuring in all copies or just some? Did the studio officially recognize the defect?

Of course the Studio recognizes the defect. That's why they discontinued the original pressing and are releasing a new one with different sku next week.
I will wait till they start shipping before I have Amazon.slow replace it.
