Maybe I didn't pick up on this until now but DVDExpress (Express.com) has been raising their prices slowly to ridiculous levels for an online store.
I was searching for pre-orders at 40% off and was hard pressed to find any. OK I realize that some stores are only doing 30% off. Then I looked over some older titles that are on my buy list and see what I can find. Well the first few were offered at only 25% off and I was shocked. And the last one I just searched for:
Only You (Marisa Tomei) http://www.express.com/consumer/prod...UCTNUMBER=3318
was offered at an insulting 15% off list price!
Can you believe it! What kind of online store is going to charge prices like this?
Any they expect us to "buy" their coupon book to get discounts on non pre-order prices like this???

Express and Amazon must think their customer base is ignorant.....when prices online together with shipping are unable to beat local B&M prices....where do they think people are going to shop?? You may as well run up to your nearest dvd store(Best Buy) and buy the disc there for the same expense and acquire it immediately!!! Unfortunately, I believe this is a sign of things to come even from places like DVDEMPIRE, Buy.Com, etc....I hope I am wrong!!!

Today, I might have placed my last order with DVDExpress for at least some time.
I just used up the last of my Titanic Coupon Book coupons for $10 off $50. I had to struggle to find 3 titles that were a good deal for me to order. I have a lot of DVDs and mostly preorder at this point so I look for 40% off MSRP as a rule.
Let's hope the other retailers don't pull back from the pre-order discounts though I am not optimistic on this issue.

For me, with BFL and all the other e-Commerce rebate sites disallowing pre-orders, Express.com has become dead meat for me. I agree that Express and Amazon are in a race to see who can offer the worst prices.

When did BFL stop allowing Pre-orders on their free shipping rebates?
I just used them with 800.com on a large pre-order with their $20/$100 coupon. I hope I didn't just screw up. I couldn't find anything on their site to imply this and I've used BFL for pre-orders before.
Any know for sure?

I read an interview with Michael Dubelko (CEO , dvdexpress) @ dvdreview.com, and he said that their prices will go up over time, 'cuz always being at the low end of the princerange won't hold in the long run. http://www.dvdreview.com/html/dvd_ho...-_3-29-99.html
