Called today to complain about not having my 8/29 preorders (4) shipped. Evidently this one title is late from the publisher. THey say they should have some by the end of the week.
Thought others might be interested.

Amazon is not the only one late with these
8/29 releases. I pre-ordered Abott & Costello
Meet Frankenstein at DVD Express and that title is delayed. I also ordered Creature From The Black Lagoon at Buy.Com and that Universal title is also delayed. Looks like shipment of any of those 8/29 Universal titles hit a snag.

Just got a shipping notice from DVD Empire today--A and C Meet Frank, Creature, and Invisible Man all shipped 9/1. Looks like this availability problem came from the manufacturer, not the online stores--it's no coincidence that Amazon, Buy, Express and DVD Empire were all late with these titles. I still HIGHLY recommend DVD Empire--this is the first time I didn't get the titles a day early from them, but they kept me informed which makes me a happy customer!

For those of you who did not receive our shipping notices it is because each retailer only received a partial shipment....sorry.
Furthermore, since orders and pre-orders work on a first-come basis...those who ordered first, received their stock from the first batch received.
Again, we apologize on behalf of the studio....I guess.

I'm still waiting on dvdempire for mine.<HR>
I really resent it when people on this forum can't have any more decency than to phrase things better than that. You my friend are the one who sounds stupid here....it's obvious that a reseller could be shorted on an order. And even if they got enough to fill all of the existing orders in addition to some surplus, last minute sales could exceed their projections.
I order a #$%load of DVDs from Amazon, and there have been several times where certain discs were delayed a week or two for this very reason. I guess unless they're just lying to me the same each time and don't feel like sending my DVDs out yet.

I can't believe it. This time I ordered from CDNow (I generally use Amazon) and got the DVD early! I received it on 8/29!!
Excellent DVD btw. I think they did a great job restoring this old classic. I love it!

What I am saying here is that instead of me calling and trying to get an explanation of what happed to my order dvdempire should at least send out an e-mail (notification) telling me of the shortage. At least have the courtesy of keeping the customer in the loop and informed. Is that too much to ask. Maybe I can get it some place else that has it. Did you ever think of that. Communications my friend is as simple as that.... I mean there are x number of dvd’s on preorder and the reseller gets shorted, well then tell us. Then I can understand. But please do not let me guess of what the status is. Do you consider that to be stupid on my part. Wouldn’t you want to know what is going on with your orders?

patrckpiteo Ooops. I'm sorry I misinterpreted what you originally said.....thought you were saying that I was stupid for thinking the demand exceeded expectations.
I totally agree that all of the etailers could do better, even Amazon, about informing us of delays like this. I've been there many times and it's frustrating indeed. I don't really care about the delay as long as I know what's up and have a timeframe of when they'll actually be sending it.
Once again my humble apologies - I shouldn't have gotten excited like that.
