What is the difference in price between a pre-order at Amazon and ordering it later... my question pertains specifically to the Slayers Box set - currently $90.99 with a MSRP of $129.99. How much will it jump?

I believe they usually cut it back to something like 25-20% off...depends really. Sometimes normal price can be 30% off.

It's currently at 30% - would it stay the same then? No point in pre-ordering then...

tylerwillis, it’s highly unlikely this will remain at 30% off once it’s released. Released titles sometimes drop to as little as 10% off so the only way to guarantee it at that price is to place an order. You can still cancel it right up to the day of shipping and if you get some GCs before it ships you can apply these to your order to reduce the cost.

You could order another preorder item along with the box set - just make sure the other item won't be released for a while. Then when you have enough GC's to pay for the set, cancel the other item. Just make certain that you select the option to only ship the order when all items are available.

Anime titles raise in price, you won't find slayers for 30% off in the next few weeks.

Anime titles fall to only 15-25% off when released at amazon.com.

This may not work, at least not in my case. I had an order with releases on 8/29 and 10/10. I thought that would buy me some time to decide whether I really want the one on 8/29, and then use GC to pay for it/them. Well, they decided to ship the 8/29 to me anyway without extra shipping charge. Now my credit card is charged, and I have plenty of GC in the "bank".

You must select the "Ship all at once" option.

Actually I've tried the ship all at once option and had them ship me stuff for free... :0 But thanks guys, I went ahead and ordered the thing from buy.com through pointclick thus wiping out my account (and getting a nice deal on the set)
