Saw the Gladiator post in this forum and
felt terrible. Please help me fix this problem. I ordered American Beauty and
Gladiator (1992) thinking like a dumb ass that I was getting the Russell Crowe version.
The total came to $34.88 -$10/0ff$30
($24.88). I paid with a $25 Web Certificate.
Does anybody think that Buy.com will give me my $25 back and allow me to reuse the $10 coupon? Cancelling my first order shouldn't
be a problem since both AB and Gladiator don't get released for awhile.

I just checked my Web Certificate balance and the $25 is still there. Will it stay there until AB and Gladiator (1992) ship? If so,
could Buy cancel my old order and place a new order using the same web certificate as payment? What happens if exceed the balance of a Web Certificate? Are you charged finance fees like a regular credit card?

Stupid, Stupid mistake
DO NOT order GLADIATOR from BUY.com
Thanks for any help.

I wouldn't touch the order just yet. Contact a CSR ASAP! Ask them what you can do to retain your $25 certificate. The $10 GC is no problem as it is still available anyway.

I don't understand how you (or anyone) could buy a DVD without reading what they're buying. Don't take this as a flame, I just really could never picture myself buying something just reading the title and not the description, although Buy.com doesn't have the most detailed info pages.

I recently canceled an order that had a $10 GC in it. When I e-mailed them about using it again they said that even though I canceled the order, I still "technically" used the GC. But, when I called CS the woman said she would reinstate the GC so I could use it on my next order! And as far as the post above, Buy.com doesn't have a description or a picture of the Gladiator DVD so it would be impossible to know that this wasn't the Russel Crowe flick! (unless he had checked the DVD Talk forum first ofcourse!!)

Fwiw,

I too ordered Gladiator. I just called up BUY.com and talked with a CSR. She said it IS the Gladiator from this summer. She said the other listing had a 1992 year buy it and this one I ordered was blank. (meaning it was this years version.) I pointed out that the other was VHS and not DVD. Hmm, well I'll see what I receive and if its wrong I'll send it back for something else.

I, too, preordered it b/c they did distinguish for the vhs versions, so it appeared as though the dvd was from this summer. However, I dedided not to risk it and cancelled my order as the CSR had no clue which version it was.
