Well, not actually price rises or falls, as such, but a change almost across the board on their rates of discounts.
I had a swag of items in my cart ready to order when my GC's came thru, and almost every one of them have gone up in price today (down in discount) - on average between $3.50 and $5.00.
Is this a sign of things to come? I suppose they have to halt their sliding share prices and increasing losses, but ouch !
Cheers

I've noticed Amazon's discounts on in-stock items sway usually between 25% and 30% off retail price. I have a big list waiting for GCs that I'll just have to wait to go down to 30% off again. It's only a two dollar difference for each disc, but on a big order...that could wind up being around the price of another DVD. So for me, it's worth the wait.

OH NO! You're right! I just checked my shopping cart and... EVERYTHING IS 14% OFF (with a few 20%...)
NO~~~~~~~~
this is bad.
EDIT: *sigh* I have eleven items in my cart
Good thing I ordered a bunch of family titles last week with the Jurassic Park and Toy Story pre-orders at about 30% each...
More reason to pre-order now! Shall I get The Beyond and Let the Sleeping Corpses Lie?

It really is looking like everyone is going up slightly in price.
Is there a reason for this or is that just life and we have to put up with it?
Regards...

Fhrx,
This thread over at HTF might explain it a bit: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/uub/...ML/016257.html

I thought that if an item was in your cart the price was protected. Up until yesterday, there were items in my cart that were cheaper than on the site. All of a sudden they come into my cart and slash the discount to 14% or so. Damn!

This morning when I read this thread I checked the 4 items in my cart from yesterday. They were Ok even when I refreshed the page. I (idiotically) closed then browser and opened a new on another machine and sure enough they were all 14% off instead of 30% off. I called Amazon and told them my situaltion and they honored the original 30% off.

Thank you Anali, Just locked in the prices on four separate orders for 16 dvds coming out in Sept, and Oct. All prices were still marked off 30-40% off. I already have enough points to pay off half of them and I will have the rest in the next month.
Also emailed my kids about the price hikes and to cash in $75 at Feeride tomorrow for Amazon.com gc's so they can pick up 4 dvds they wanted in earlier Sept. All are still marked off 30-40% off.

> That "cart protection" never happened to me.
I had the same thing happen with express. I wasn't sure what was supposed to occur, but an item I had in the cart went up a few bucks. Just an observation.
