Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

Oh, two amazon orders that went out for delivery this morning and are now not going to be delivered today. Fucking Bezos.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

I've made probably 1000s of Amazon orders over the past 25 years. Their delivery service tends to take a hit in the Christmas shopping season and their annual "Prime" days event. I think it's all the temp delivery workers they hire for those periods and rush to get stuff out quickly. Mostly it's fine outside of those times.

If it is any consolation, USPS delivery is worse than ever. Easily the worst in my lifetime.

I have extracted over $150 in compensation in the last month from Amazon for delayed packages and having to contact support multiple times for resolution.
I have experienced the same, and I've seen many reports on Reddit of the same thing. It appears to be endemic in Amazon Support. I'm guessing there are some metrics that create perverse incentives for CSRs to lie to customers about compensation, with no repercussions to them for doing so. There are so many times where I have to do multiple follow-ups to get the credits promised, and they don't even bat an eye when I tell them something was promised, and I didn't get it.

I got so sick of it this week when I had to contact them a third time for $25 worth of credits, that I demanded $50 worth of credit because of their shenanigans. No push back at all. They gave me the $50. I think that's going to be my M.O. from now on. Each additional time I have to contact them, I'm going to demand that the credit be doubled.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

Ordered something Saturday and it said it would be here on Sunday if I ordered within the next 7 hours.. I ordered right away and then got a notice that it wouldn't be here until today (Monday) and it's not here yet.

Then in the wee hours of this morning i ordered something and it said "same day delivery" if I ordered within the next hour. I ordered right away and now it says tomorrow.

I understand they can't always get everything right away (even thought here is a warehouse very close to me) but this certainly doesn't seem right that it's purposely not providing the right information.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

My mom ordered some catfood for the master and I decided to order 5 4K UHDs at the same time. Just got the email stating that they were delayed in shipping and won't be here today like it stated when the order was placed. Not surprised at this point.

Amazon just started local drone delivery for Prime members but you have to live within 7.5 miles of the distribution center in Kansas City Kansas but I am not since I'm by Kansas City Missouri. It's a $10 fee to use and there are other restrictions but I would've tried it out once.

Not as much a complaint than being bummed out. Maybe they'll expand coverage in the future. At least I still have same day/next day delivery...which is still sweet.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

I ordered something yesterday that was supposed to be delivered today.
Still hasn't shipped according to their tracker.

Needed it today.

How do we go about complaining about this to Amazon?

Go to customer service chat. Tell them the expected date of delivery and the actual date of delivery. Tell them you'd like some kind of credit due to the inconvenience. I usually get at least $5 credit, or sometimes they refund the cost of the item or other stuff.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

Thanks
I did all that last night.

This was a pool draining hose that I wanted yesterday so I could drain our pool out into the street for an inspection tomorrow.

The guy kept saying not to worry.
He will take care of it.

Still hasn't shipped. They put a $5 credit on my account.
We will likely just cancel it

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

Now that Amazon just doesn't have real competition, they do the bare minimum service necessary to keep customers. I won't blame Amazon in this case but a porch pirate stole a limited edition Blu-ray set Amazon had delivered to me on a Saturday two weeks ago. The thief sliced open the mailer and left it empty. The Amazon rep refunded the purchase immediately but couldn't replace the order since it was sold out.

I always dread when Amazon delivers me items on a Saturday, the only times I've had issues in the past decade with thieves stealing Amazon deliveries were on Saturdays. They follow the delivery trucks around and scoop them up a few minutes after the items are delivered.

I have largely stopped ordering from them unless the pricing is a steal. They opened a facility less than 10 minutes from my house and now I cannot get anything in less than 5-6 days. I still look there for a reference point, then find another vendor.

Its as if the facility now has to inject themselves into the shipping process, whereas things would come straight to me in fewer stops before.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

I don't think any of this will come as a surprise but the lawsuit CA filed against Amazon about pressuring vendors to increase prices revealed some emails about their tactics:

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/...-lawsuit-says/

Amazon works in three ways to pressure vendors into manipulating competitor prices, Bonta alleged.

In one supposed scheme, Amazon proposes price matching by agreeing to increase the price of a product or temporarily pause its sales, which then allows the other retailer to raise its price.

Another route Amazon frequently takes flips that scheme. When Amazon sees a rival offering a product at a price it considers unprofitable, it pressures vendors to get the rival to raise their price to a level Amazon likes. Once the rival raises its price, Amazon then matches it.

Finally, Amazon allegedly follows a third, arguably more aggressive, path to get vendors to remove products entirely from platforms offering lower prices. That way, Amazon won’t be forced to lower its price to compete.

All three scenarios raise prices for consumers, Bonta alleged.

In most examples, Amazon’s requests for price increases were met with urgency. Some prices spiked within a day, as vendors allegedly feared that Amazon might drop them from the platform or otherwise punish them for allowing cheaper sales elsewhere.

The above about price fixing is why I've been calling Amazon a monster for 15 years. That patently proves the point. In glorious technicolor. The goddamn bastards... truly evil incarnate.

Amazon has stopped allowing me to do returns at local Whole Foods and Kohls.

Added to that I have to figure out what combo reasons I need to use to get a return that isn't into center city Philadelphia.

Just you, or did they stop accepting all returns at those stores?

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

My mom and brother both placed a huge order of pots, pans and clothes to be delivered today. Amazon shipped them in four different packages and each is supposedly out for delivery on different trucks. I have a feeling I am going to be sitting here all day waiting for them and all four get pushed back to tomorrow at the earliest.

I received Natural Born Killers and American Pie 4k discs and they came with the slipcovers but not shrinkwrapped or sealed in plastic.

WTF?

Were those discs part of that 3 for $33 sale because you wouldn't be the only person that has happened to.

I don't think so but they were on sale or a limited deal if that counts?

Man, if that's true, it's a death knell for Amazon. Doesn't make much sense. The whole Kohl's easy return capability is the major reason why so many I know kowtow to Amazon Prime and buy so much from the company. I've had to use that return service several times, and even I admit that it worked very well.

I've been trying to figure out what is causing it.

Have been getting my small deliveries to Amazon lockers near us in Delaware to avoid taxes.
Return options have been either to Amazon drop off in center city Philly or local ups stores but no Whole Foods or Kohls.

So the only common thing is the Amazon lockers

Was curious and just started the process of a return to see. Still have the option for both Kohls and Whole Foods as drop-off.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

Last year Kohl's tested out not accepting Amazon returns in a few stores... they are probably expanding it. Kohl's is struggling to stay in business as it is. Amazon returns haven't turned into sales for Kohl's and Kohl's doesn't hire enough people to do both the returns and the store operations.

Staples (office supplies) has Amazon returns here. Most days there is only one person doing them and that person is expected to also handle the checkout register. The lines get crazy. 90%+ of the people coming in to do Amazon returns walk right back out without buying a thing.

Eventually all these return locations are going to tell Amazon to find someone else.

Re: The complaining about Amazon thread

Amazon driver just dropped of some shoes my brother ordered. The driver was telling me and my dad that Bezos had all of the airconditioners removed from the vans. He also said that amazon is getting a new fleet of vans and the drivers will have to take a class to learn how to used them. Also, they won't have air conditioners.
