Re: FYE store closings 2011

10 stores are closing this year. Three are in New Jersey... Cherry Hill, Edgewater, and Quakerbridge. The % off is suppose to change each week.

Re: FYE store closings 2011

Just got back from the West Manchester Mall in West York, PA and was surprised to see the FYE in there closing. Kind of sucks because that's actually one of the better stores in that mall (it's not a very good mall).

Does anyone have a list of the recent round of store closings?

The one in Glendora, CA is closing down or it already has closed. I was last there about a month ago so im not not use if they stayed open after the holidays. I'll report back if I know anything.

Still open. Currently 40% off most used and new Blus/DVDs/CDs (60% off if the item has a "Great Value" sticker on it). They still have a decent selection. Their last day is supposed to be Jan 25.

The one in Danbury CT is closing, and soon I'd assume. Everything is between 50% and 80% off.

I don't know if anyone else is in the area, but the Bellingham, WA store is closing. I was in there today and everything in the store was pretty much up to 50% off.

Saw that the Burlington, MA store was closing in a week. Most DVDs and Blu-Rays were between 50% and 80% off.

Quakerbridge Mall is closing in the next 3-4 days. CDs, DVDs and Blu-Rays were
minimum 50% off.

Re: FYE store closings 2011

I dunno if it's been said but the Mays Landing NJ store at the hamilton mall is also closing. It's unfortunate as I am experiencing it first hand. Being on the employee side of a sale during a store closing can be a painful thing. I love getting discounts as much as the next guy but please try to remember, if you are in a closing FYE or any closing store, wish the employee's luck with their future, it really helps make the day seem a little better. And if you don't notice a sale sign at a closing store, and you get a discount anyway, don't do a victory dance. that hurts more than anything. i just wanted to chime my thoughts in on the FYE closings, and store closings in general.

Re: FYE store closings 2011

Went to the Burlington, MA store yesterday and there was still a surprisingly large amount of stock. The used Blu Rays section was small (but I think that was the case before they were closing) but I managed to get the X-Files I want to Believe for $2 and some change.

They also have some items that are 80% off, for no rhyme or reason, and some are 50% off, and used are 70%, but again, small used selection. I ended up buying about $400 worth of stuff and paid about $60. They had some pretty good three disc collections of artists for $2, Alice Cooper, Ramones, Aretha Franklin, and the three disc Wattstax collection, and then some stuff I didn't pick up like Dokken, Dio and Ratt. It would be like a greatest hits, an album you'd want and an album most people didn't want (for the Ramones it was a greatest hits, the first album and Brain Drain)

Re: FYE store closings 2011

If they had stuff up at 70 or 80 percent I would say it's time to really go scoop up everything you can. That store is definitely going to be closed soon.

Re: FYE store closings 2011

I stopped by there today, picked up a couple things. Blu-rays were still too pricey, even at 50% off. But some items were 80% off, and I picked up:

- Queensryche Operation: Mindcrime Remastered with T-shirt ($5.80)
- The Who 3-DVD set of Tommy/Quadraphenia Live ($6.00)
- Paul Simon 'Essential' (2 CD/1 DVD) ($6.00)
- Decemberists 'King is Dead' used ($3.00)
- King's X 'Best Of' ($1.00)
- Better Than Ezra 'Greatest Hits' ($1.00)
- Love 2-CD Collection ($1.00)
- The The 'Infected' ($.50)

Might go back again and do a little more bargain hunting, if I'm in the area. They also said the Boston store is closing, but Nashua NH and Salem NH are staying open.

There's a Boston store? The one at Downtown Crossing? I thought that one closed years ago

Yeah, Washington Street. I believe its last day was this past Monday.

(Brings back memories. I used to manage that store back when it was a Strawberries...)

Re: FYE store closings 2011

Didn't it move locations a couple times at Downtown Crossing? I thought at one point it was on the corner sort of near the old HMV and then it moved to the larger location next to the old Barnes and Noble.

My uncle used to have a store in the jewelers building that I'd work at on Saturdays in Middle School so I'd usually spend some time wandering around there at lunch.

Small world. The FYE across from the Park City Mall here in Lancaster, PA is in the tail-end of their going-out-of-business sale. But there is both an FYE and a Suncoast Video inside the mall, so no huge loss. When the store changed its name from Coconuts to FYE a few years ago, I figured its days were numbered.

I went on a drive a couple weeks ago and the FYE at the Fairgrounds Square Mall in Reading on N. 5th Street Highway (nearly right across from Big Lots) is also closing. It's also a dumpy mall. Seems that around here, FYE is thinning their stores to basically 1 per county. I wonder if the FYE's in Hanover and Lebanon will survive...as these are also dumpy? On the upside, this will reduce my diversions the next time I do a Big Lots run...

Called store to inquire and was told all the stores in Utah are closing. This sucks, but was expected.

Re: FYE store closings 2011

For those of you in central PA, apparently the Colonial Park Mall FYE is "relocating" so they put all stock 30%-60% off. I haven't had a chance to pop in to confirm but a friend called the store and they told him that this is what's happening.
