Re: What's up with DeepDiscounts backorders??

Another update, after 60 days on backorder I got another email from DD. Sorry that we haven't been able to obtain your item, we hope we can in the next 21 days. I am not sure what their problem is. I order 2 main stream blu-ray releases that are available at every etailer I can look up. The one blu has 78 copies for sale on Ebay presently.

I'm not so sure about that. I agree that this economy is not conducive to fluid business, but business (as a whole) doesn't try to stem the tide of a troubled economy by promoting sales through lowered prices and exciting promotions thus increasing the traffic to their stores/sites and stimulating sales and therefore the economy, they typically raise prices because they think that is the only way they're going to keep their heads above water. But what they don't realize is that by raising their prices and eliminating the exciting promotions, fewer people can afford (or want to buy) their products and the cash flow slows. They go about things exactly the wrong way and their business (and everyone else's) suffers as a result. Deep Discount is no different. If their prices were what they used to be and they had exciting promotions like they used to, I'd be willing to bet more people would buy their products, promoting more movement of merchandise and greater need for employees to move said merchandise. But they (along with everyone else) go about things exactly back-asswards and business slows and dies. Contrary to what Ditech used to say, people are NOT smart. That's what I believe anyway. -kd5-

I'm still waiting on a DVD that they said they shipped on Sept. 21st or thereabout. I'm getting the feeling that they really didn't ship it at all or it's still sitting on their mail dock somewhere.

Did you contact them? Over a month to ship it's likely it got lost in the mail.

I did. I haven't heard anything back yet, but it's only been a couple of days.

Interesting read, Mark, thanks.

In other news, here's the reply that I received from DD on my missing Boogie Nights:

"We have reshipped your missing order for boogie nights. You should receive this replacement in approximately 2-5 business days once the item arrives back in stock. Please allow up to 10 days to receive."

I might get it around Easter. Hopefully, Super D cleans up DD's debts and starts the discs moving again.

Cancelled all back orders. I won't order from them anymore unless I hear things have radically changed. I'd rather pay more and get the stuff then save a dollar and wait for months.

STill waiting on North by Northwest, my free blu from Sept's B1G1F. I see that it is in stock on their website so I wrote them a letter of complaint. I would have never bought the other blu for $29.99 if I knew the free one was never coming.

Re: What's up with DeepDiscounts backorders??

This is the response I got today:

A few weeks ago, we told you your order would be shipped by now.
Unfortunately, the vendor has been unable to deliver the item(s).

We are hopeful that the item will be in stock within the next 21 days. We
will reserve your item on backorder and ship to you as soon as the product is
available. If you ordered with a credit card, you will not be charged until
the item ships.

If this does not meet with your approval, please contact us at
[email protected] to cancel.

Again, our apologies for the delay and any inconvenience you may have
experienced.

Best regards,
DeepDiscount.com Customer Service

Tried to call, but was on hold for 15 minutes. The real pisser is this blu shows available on their website.

Re: What's up with DeepDiscounts backorders??

The last order I placed with them I made sure everything was listed as in stock, but as soon as I received the confirmation email 2 things were listed as back ordered. That is when I gave up altogether with them and cancelled everything.

when you get a confirmation email from DD, what does it mean when it says NEW PRICE next to your item? DOes that mean its in-stock?

I think "new price" means the title has either had or is expected to have a reduction in MSRP from the publisher.

I got the same e-mail today and three weeks ago. How many times can they keep sending the same e-mail?

It was when I got that e-mail for a second time on my September 3 order that I canceled. It sure did not take them long to confirm cancellation of my order. I am saddened at what DD has become. I know I will most certainly be shopping elsewhere.

Hell is freezing over! They shipped my b/o Moonlighting S1. Still waiting on Inner Sanctum and Amazing Stories. I also just got a single-dvd order shipped in a cardboard carrier instead of the bubble-plastic thingies they've been using recently.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to DD for me. I waited for months for one cd to come in stock, and some other stuff i ordered during the 20 percent off sale, i received in under 5 days. I almost chocked when i saw the package was from them.

I guess this is the new official thread for discussing the DD saga instead of the old BOGO sale thread at:

This would seem to provide a little new interesting info, especially: "then they fell behind in payables to vendors". I think that's part of the answer why they don't get stuff in stock and ship our orders (though I'm puzzled why a few people are saying a few things have shipped recently). The part I dislike is that DD wasn't truthful about this situation and instead kept indicating that the merchandise would be in stock soon. I passed on getting Robin Hood BD for $4.95 from DVD2BLU because I have it on order at DD. I wish DD would either cancel everything (in which case I'll never do business with them or whatever they call themselves in the future after their sale but at least I wouldn't be hanging in limbo) or preferably start shipping my stuff soon.

Re: What's up with DeepDiscounts backorders??

That offer they just had cannot be any worse than what they had a year or so ago, with that horrific and insulting 40% off MSRP deal. That was THE worst deal ever!

You can always call them and cancel all your open orders. The number is
1-800-258-1995

There is no need to be in limbo or pass on another deal if you don't want to wait. I have an order open from August which i just called about. It is still backordered. I could cancel or not. Up to me. If I see a deal on something I ordered from DD, I buy it and then cancel my DD order.
