Basically, the OP want every retailer to have the same exact price so it can all be bought at whatever is the closest retailer at the time. Imagine if it was store's policy to price match online or "everyday" price. Every Joe Schmo would be holding up the lines asking the cashiers to call around or check competitor's websites to make sure he/she is getting the best price.
Best Buy has matched the everyday price before by checking the competitors' website that's why I was hoping Wal Mart would do that as well. It took less than a minute and didn't hold up any line.

I was looking for a price match and I'm hearing a lot of people act like i wanted someone to castrate themselves. We have an entire forum devoted to finding the best prices and the best deals. You guys give me shit because I wanted to price match? I can look up dozens of other threads where people were complaining about Amazon's and numerous others price matching policies.

My point was this; refusal to price match internet pricing started back when internet pricing was below cost. The revenue stream was based on advertising and selling customer information. That is no longer the case. The difference between the B&M location and the website is non-existent in the customers' eyes today. They are one and the same.

That is always YMMV. It's not actually their policy but some Best Buy locations will take any revenue they can get. It's usually not a big deal for DVDs or other media. Wal-mart is usually strict about their price matching policy.

Sometimes, online retailers will charge less for DVDs or other smaller items to get consumers to buy more DVDs to qualify for that free shipping which a lot of times is usually around the $25 point.

Re: Problems with price matching online

I'm confused by this whole thread. It's making a simple thing complicated.

Price match policies are generally made to allow stores to compete with local and direct competition's printed ads. They are not trying to price match the world, why would they? No store should be expected to be the lowest price on every item, it would go out of business quickly.

Any store policy is always YMMV, and the OP, myself, and others have occasionally gotten price matches outside of printed policy, but to expect anything outside of printed policy seems quite silly.

Do you mean "online stores" other than Walmart, Target (ie. bigger, well known chains), etc.? If so, that is simply wrong. I just bought an Xbox 360 Wireless controller at Best Buy today for $36 - using the printed online price from Walmart's site.

I imagine YMMV, but I've done it more than a few times at Best Buy.

*sigh* yes, YMMV... they're supposed to make sure that the price is the same in the actual Walmart store.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is considered a local retail competitor?
A retail store located in the same market area as your local Best Buy store.

What if I find a lower price at another Best Buy store or on BestBuy.com?
If an item you purchased at Best Buy is advertised at a lower price at another Best Buy store in your local area or on BestBuy.com, we'll refund you the price difference from our own sale price during the exchange and return period on your product. Simply bring in your original Best Buy receipt to the customer service counter while that lower price is still in effect.

Best Buy does not match the prices of Internet-only retailers or the online only offers of our local retail competitors. If you find a local retail competitor honoring its own online prices, we'll match their price. Eligible items must be the same brand and model, and currently in stock at the local retail competitors store. For purchases made at BestBuy.com, please see our BestBuy.com Price Match Guarantee Policy.

Will you price match with the Best Buy site on my mobile phone (m.bestbuy.com)?
Yes. m.bestbuy.com has the same pricing and is treated the same as Best Buy.com.
