As far as the "Shipping Soon", I'm not sure if that has anything to do with your GC. In the past, if Amazon tried to charge your GC and couldn't, it would just charge the credit card you used to back up the order. And if the credit card charge failed, they'd send you an email asking you to update your payment info.

Not that this tells us anything new, but I had this in my e-mail this morning:
Dear Customer: Starting May 31, 2008, the Borders.com/Waldenbooks.com website is no longer associated with Amazon.com.
If you placed an order for an available item from the Borders.com/Waldenbooks.com website teamed with Amazon.com before May 31, 2008, Amazon.com will fulfill that order and provide any necessary customer service associated with that order.
I just included parts of the e-mail. Sure would have been nice had they sent this out a month ago...would have avoided a great deal of confusion.
