I picked up Robocop Criterion here for only $6.99. I'm surprised i even found that, everything else was pretty much picked clean. Although i did get some PS3 and Wii games for pretty cheap.

I visited 8 stores in my area and came away with some good stuff, I found 23 older Criterions but the only OOP one was Robocop and none had inserts.

The only DVD I've found so far with an insert was the OOP Halloween Extended Version.
I found Mizoguchi's 47 Ronin Parts I & II,
two copies on Hands on a Hard Body (both of which I've sold),
AB's Fantastic Planet,
Daytrippers,
8 sealed brand new copies of Rawhead Rex (7 of which I'm selling),
many copies of Midnite Movies OOPs Planet of the Vampires and Dr Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine,
2 copies of Freeway 2: Confessions of a Trick Baby (both of which are selling),
AB's Diva (which sold),
Roberto Benigni's The Monster (I kept),
Cronenberg's Shivers (I kept),
3 copies of Almodovar's Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (sold all),
Fox Lorber's The Killer (sold),
Cassavetes The Killing of a Chinese Bookie (sold because I can get it in the Criterion box),
Pierrot le Fou (sold because I'm pretty sure this is coming up on Criterion's slate),
2 copies of the Lair of the White Worm SE (both sold),
The Scent of Green Papaya (sold),
In The Realm of the Senses dubbed version (sold),
Tampopo (kept),
Everyone Says I Love You (sold),
Not of This Earth (sold),
Battle Beyond the Stars (sold),
Goodtimes' Double Dragon (kept),
AB's Tenebre (kept),
AB's Notorious (kept),
CC's Unbearable Lightness of Being (kept).

There is one store in my area with an AMAZING selection that I hope to get back to before they close and take advantage of their stuff one more time.

When I first saw your spoils, I thought "nothing special." then I did a double take on the spines. CRITERION!!!! I bow down to your amazingness.

Called the nearest store and asked the cute sounding girl if that store was closing. She seemed sorta down when she said so far they don't know. I can cross my fingers.

Yeah, I've got over thirty of them and I'm just using my fingernails. Ouch.

Huegenot and Polo Pkwy is closing. They're going to be open until Sunday. There's nothing special left, but they have a rack of 90% off dvds. I got almost 40 dvds for $55. I'm going to trade them all in at Movie Stop. There were also a couple of copies of Lynch's Inland Empire for $1.99.

Here's my haul for $55:

The Marine
Breach
Because I Said So
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Lady in the Water
World Trade Center
All the King's Men
Eragon
Red Eye
The Benchwarmers
Dreamgirls
The Last Kiss
Norbit
The Lost City
Relative Strangers
Gridiron Gang
Friends With Money
Marie Antoinette
Syriana
Firewall
Rumor Has it...
The Ring Two
Matrix Reloaded
Black Dahlia
Babel
Cheaper by the Dozen
The Fountain
Poseidon
The Nativity Story
Rocky Balboa

Those are all to trade in to Movie Stop. These are the ones I got to keep:

Inland Empire
The French Connection
Stranger than Paradise (OOP MGM version)
The Wild Angels - Midnite Movies
Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine - Midnite Movies
The Thing with Two Heads - Midnite Movies
Invaders From Mars - Midnite Movies
I Bury the Living - Midnite Movies
The Dunwich Horror - Midnite Movies

The store in Rosemead, CA. is not going out of sale (or at least didn't appear to) and didn't have their stock movies for sale, just the usual 3 for $25.

I went to my nearest one about 10 days ago and they were already picked bare. Most of what they had left were old catalog titles that I wouldn't want to watch at all, much less pay for.
I did find:
5000 Fingers of Dr T
Mad Monster Party
Game Over series
Triumph of the Will
only bad thing is they're all insertless and in the proprietary rental cases.

I hit two stores in Louisville, KY on 10/6/07 and picked up the following for $5.99 each:

Yojimbo (Criterion Collection)
Sanjuro (CC)
Autumn Sonata (CC)
Rushmore (CC)
Metropolis (Kino)
8 1/2 (Image)
Big Doll House
Black Mama, White Mama

I should be happy with this, especially since a couple of these titles have been on my wish list for a while, but since the sale had already been going on for two weeks before I heard about it, I can't help wondering about the ones that got away, especially after reading some of the other posts here. Oh well, the hunt continues.

In Louisville, I went to the store on Taylorsville Road just north of Hurstbourne Lane and Shelbyville Road near the Gene Snyder. I've heard that there is also a store on Dixie Highway that is closing.

Well, the Midlothian, VA location is almost officially closed. I went back today and all DVDs were $.60 - $1.50. I picked up about 50 more titles, mostly fairly recent releases. I also grabbed the last of the sealed DVDs they had as well (about 15). They were all $1 or less.

Also got 2 sealed Xbox games for $2 each, a sealed PS2 game for $2, and a PS3 game for $2.

Overall I ended up with about 110 DVDs and 4 video games. Total spent was less than $100. I'll get at least 25 HD/BD new releases at Movie Stop after trading most of them in.

Everything was in EXCELLENT shape (i guess these titles didn't rent) and Blockbuster was selling new DVD cases for $.05 ea. so i picked up enough to swap out the inserts..
A couple of questions about the Blockbuster cases, one, are they the cases the Blockbuster puts most of their used and rentable dvds in? Two, where were the cases located in the store, did you have to ask for the specifically? Three, is this available at all Blockbusters, or does your store just happen to have an overload of extra cases so they needed to sell some for cheap? Thanks!

I just discovered that a Hollywood was going out of business in my neck of the woods. Made it over there during its final 5 days this past weekend. Although I probably missed quite a few good ones waiting so long, I did time it right for good deals. They were marked down to $2.99 a piece, plus buy 10, get 5 free, making them $2 a dvd. Then, luckily for me, they had 30 dvds I wanted (mostly because no one knows good cinema):

Keane
Time of the Wolf
Solaris
Sweet Smell of Success
Saraband
Inventing the Abbotts
The Station Agent
You Can Count on Me
Milleniem Mambo
In This World
The Claim
Shopgirl
Code Unknown
The Beautiful Country
Broken Flowers
Clean
Don't Come Knocking
Down to the Bone
Heaven
Invincible (Werner Herzog's)
The Killing Fields
My Life Without Me
Nobody Knows
Oasis
The Princess and the Warrior
River's Edge
Somersault
Stevie
Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her
The Secret Lives of Dentists
