Deep Discount and DVD Planet using yellow envelopes?

Today, I got 3 orders, 2 from Deep Discount, 1 from DVD Planet. The DVD Planet came in a yellow envelope, while 1 from DD also came in a yellow envelope and the other one in a box.

I'm none too pleased with the yellow envelope. My Cria Cuervos was nearly unsealed and 1 disc was loose inside the case. DVD Planet, if you're reading this, please go back to boxes immediately.

Do you mean the bubblewrap lined manila envelopes? Quite a few merchants seem to be using them on occasion.

i used to use DVD Planet a lot and always got the cardboard packaging. recently, once, i got one in the bubble envelope and it was damaged. i sent it back and complained to CS, they sent the next one i nthe cardboard again and subsequent after that. but now i am leary and think this will be hit or miss, but assuredly if they keep using the envelope i will nto purchase from them anymore. also, a reason i have been going in-store more lately.

I've had some of my recent DD purchases come in a UPS bubble wrap envelope.

My store sells a lot on Amazon Marketplace (books, CDs, DVDs etc.) and we use separate bubble wrap plus manila envelopes rather than the two-in-one combo. It's cheaper and I think the bubble wrap tends to be better than the envelope lined stuff (I think it's 3/16" bubbles we use and the combo envelopes usually use smaller bubbles). For thinner paperback books we reinforce with cardboard. We get tons of praise for our packaging in feedback.

I received South Park Season 10 from DVDPlanet on Wednesday in a box, yesterday I received Bubba Ho-Tep SE in a yellow envelope and it was a little bit crushed, but not too bad

With more and more vendors going to "warehouse distribution" models it could be a simple matter of that is what DD and DVDPlanet are doing or testing. If that is the case it could be the luck-of-the-draw as to the type of packaging in which your order arrives. Warehouse "A" ships smaller stuff in envelopes while warehouse "B" always uses boxes. It could also be a simple matter of them testing the waters for different packaging to help keep costs down and prices low. As long as the product arrives undamaged I really don't care what type of packaging is used. I've received damaged product in both boxes and envelopes.
