Video rental machines

My wife came back from the Super Stop and Shop (big ass grocery store)with a copy of Munich that she rented from a "DVD rental machine". She said it looked like a big red candy machine. You swipe your credit card and they charge you $1/night until you put the dvd back in the machine.

She was able to enter a code from a flyer she got somewhere ("freedvd" I think) and got the first night for nothing.

I must be out of it because this seems like a pretty damn good deal and I never heard of it.

Have these been around for a while? Just curious more than anything else.

Sounds like Redbox to me. Here in Salt Lake, there's one at just about every McDonalds, and they're starting to put them in grocery stores as well. I rent from them pretty regularly. $1 rentals are tough to pass up.

Looking at their location map we must be one of the first places in this next of the woods. I'm glad to have 'em.

Yeah, I've seen them in McDonald's and grocery stores here in the MD/DC area. Never used them as I prefer the convenience of net flix, and tend to avg around $1 a movie on that as well.

I thought I saw one around here. With it being in a McDonald's I can only assume they have great titles like Cheaper by the Dozen 2 and Fun with Dick and Jane available.

So I pass them up, is what I'm saying.
