Curious DDD Experience Lately

I've been a frequent customer of DDD for several years, and especially this year, so maybe it's just the swing of random chance, but lately I've had some trouble with them. Having an order on backorder for nearly two weeks doesn't seem right; if I'd wanted to wait weeks to get it, I'd have waited weeks to order it or gone somewhere else. In that time the price dropped several dollars. At least they're giving me their new lower price now. At least I think they are. It's hard to tell since their web site apparently isn't linked to their database because it still shows as having the old price. I've got another order that was showing up as OPEN even though it shipped back in May. I called last week about it, and when I called again yesterday (after emailing them Monday and getting no response), they said it was closed now. But why, then, does it still show in my order status page as OPEN? Seems stupid to have to update web pages manually instead of them being updated automatically because they query the database. But the customer service person said something about them "updating the web site", so I have to conclude that there is some strange disconnect between data and web page. It's hard to fathom that they'd have such an awkward system; someone should tell them that these days it's possible to have web pages query databases so they can reflect real-time situations.

Re - the OPEN order.

I have one of them - caused by DDD 'packaging' a special (in my case - the PEE WEE TV SHOWS 2 SETS as 1 package). Because the actual 'special' no longer 'exists' in their database (or online) - there is potentially no way of closing down the OPEN order. I just ignore it anyway. Goods have been received - and its just a 'database' problem that they'll have to sort out at some stage. I would suggest just ignoring it - it has ZERO impact on your account.

What's more ANNOYING from my end is that packages to AUSTRALIA are taking SOOO LOONGG to get here.

Sure - their site says 10-20 working days (4 weeks) - like why ?????!!!!

I would really LIKE TO KNOW how come it takes so long to get them Down Under ?? What shipping method do they use ..... the cheapest ?????

I use to have alot of orders that were shipped stick at OPEN ..It was during some sort of website glitch or something, and eventually they refreshed it all and they all disappeared..

tonyg,

if you used the cheapest shipping method, then yes, that is why it's taking so long..not sure how they ship internationally, but you should probably spring for a bit better method unless you want to wait..

Have you tried a phone call, VI? The two times I've called, they've been nice and helpful.

I've also got a spooky (not to mention ancient) open order, but I just ignore it.

If you email them about the stuck open orders, they will change the status. I had two that were stuck, emailed them, and within a couple of days, they were closed.

Can ANYONE please explain WHY DDD state that they have 'shipped' your item/parcel - when in fact they are waiting til there are enough parcels to send as a bulk amount ??

I find it TOTALLY ANNOYING to think that the SHIPPED DATE is the date that the item is shipped to the Post Office.

From other members of DVDPLAZA.COM.AU - IT now is proven that parcels can WAIT until there are sufficient amount for a bulk despatch.

I had a parcel 'sent' on the 23 Sept

One member had two 'sent' on the 13 Oct / 18 Oct.

BOTH ARRIVED at respective addresses on the 31 Oct.

THIS IS DOWN AND OUT LYING ON BEHALF OF DDD where 'SHIPPED DATES' are provided.

It is possible they are being held up by the U.S. Postal Service or by the Australian Postal Service.

I sent 3 DVD packages to Australia via Surface Mail in mid August. One package arrived the week before last and the other two arrived last week. 10 weeks average.....

Same here!

Hi,

Im located in SINGAPORE. I have been using DDD for over 5years with absolutely ZILCH problems and its only recently that i have a HUGE one!

Ordered 3 seasons of X-Files and they were listed as "In-Stock". Made the order and the items didn't ship until 1-2 weeks later. That was a bad bad omen. Subsquently i was anticipating its arrival for 4 weeks(now 5) but it didn't arrive. Emailed them and they finally replied to let them know if my address is verified(its the same address i have been using all along) and I managed to get a confirmation letter from the national postage service that no package from DDD, USA arrived in Singapore. Emailed DDD back (CC: "[email protected]"). And the email keeps bouncing back. Im stumped now.

Anyone with suggestions?

Lately, I've actually found that they've been shipping faster than before. So I'm happy with them. Had only one real problem once (a slit DVD case) a long while back, out of FAR too many orders.... 100s of DVDs...

They finally shipped the backorder, and after a day it disappeared from my OPEN queue but hasn't yet appeared below with the COMPLETED items. And the long-ago-filled order from May still shows as OPEN.

Other than waiting 2 weeks for them to fill a backorder, I have no complaints with the actual transactions. Prices are good and shipments usually prompt; I've never had them overcharge me or ship the wrong item. But I will agree that their service sucks if you try to contact them about an issue. They don't respond to emails, in my experience, and their web site doesn't properly reflect the actual status of orders even after two calls to them (they say it's closed now, but why the hell doesn't it show up that way, then?). If they'd replace their customer service staff and web/database programmers with more competent people, that would take care of all my problems with them.
