Dvdsoon: Warning No Refunds Made Now

There is another thread detailing that dvdsoon is now cancelling orders after 60 days but this weekend they also eliminated CC refunds so I have put this as a new warning.

Here is another example of DVDsoon communicating nothing and buying time at customers expence. This was posted in the UK.

Their abnormal 21 day delay in giving a CC refund has now been eliminated. They say after 3 weeks minimum you can contact them and they will LYK what new system they have put in place.

Dear Sir;

Our apologies for the confusion. As of July 20th the refund form on our website has been temporarily removed. Our development department is currently revamping this process to make it faster to be completed. Presently the turn around for this process to be completed is 3 weeks. Unfortunately the new process has not yet been explained to use here in customer service so I do ask that you check back with us in three weeks so that the new procedure may be explained in full. I apologize for the inconvenience.

What a great business model.

Advertise cheap prices and free shipping.

Get lots of orders and charge for the goods right away but don't deliver.

Raise your prices and change the rules after customers have made orders and refuse to repay their money.

Why rob banks, this is a much better way of getting rich.

I have 4 orders outstanding and I expect a cancellation email shortly as my 60 day delay is almost up. I suggest everyone make a chargeback on their CC and not allow DVDsoon to dictate the timeline for possible repayment.
This is a classic ponzi scheme nothing less.

The only way you will know is if the money shows up in your account before 21 days elapse.

The threads here;

http://forums.dvd-swaps.co.uk/forumd...php?forumid=22

May get a reply from dvdsoon. It seems to be the main link for European customers so they might reply to the questions. They never reply to individuals I read in the forums or the reply says nothing useful.

Good question. There were a lot of us too, as they cancelled a slew of orders right before they took this down. Damn. I should have known better than to deal with them.

Why rob banks, this is a much better way of getting rich.
Indeed.

I've been tempted to order from them a few different times over the past few years, but never did - for one thing, I don't like the idea of them charging your CC immediately, whether or not they have the items in stock. This latest bit of information definitely puts a lock on their site for me.

And some people may wonder why I still order from places like amazon.com. amazon.com may not give out coupon codes anymore and did away with share the love, but man, they never pulled any crap like this. I'd rather spend a few bucks more and know I am backed up with reliable service and good customer service when something might happen where the service isn't satisfactory.

They haven't even promised me a refund. This is what they sent to me:

My apologies for the matter , but at the present time the refund option does not work.

Our apologies for the confusion. As of July 20th the refund form on our website has been temporarily removed. Our development department is currently revamping this process to make it faster to be completed. Presently the turn around for this process to be completed is 3 weeks. I am trying to escalate this now. I have dealt with DVDsoon for years and never had any problems, but this is completely unacceptable. Not only can I not get a refund, but they haven't even credited my account.

Well my last chance to get anything out of these rip off artists has gone. I had a pre-order made on May 15 for release on July 26 that's now gone to "on order". A real Seinfeld moment. "You know how to take orders (reservations), you just don't know what to do with them".

I'd say now if you have old (low) priced orders you will not get them and they will not repay you the money. They want you to reorder at the higher prices and pay shipping. I tried to get the Provincial Consumer Affairs Department involved but you need to read and write French to use their forms. No English speakers catered for.

The only option left is a charge back with your CC and the delay they put in (a minimum 60 days) will cause problems as most CC companies have time limits on charge backs. This has been a pretty effective large scale scam.

Help please!
I am lucky mine isnt a large order, but absolutely hate being taken for a ride, like this. I ordered the sinbad tv set for like 10 $ us (yeah, i know it sucked, but was on par with beastmaster), back on may 20th (you probably know the rest) after numerous emails to them, and receiving the flimsiest of excuses, re: see above word for word, even heard the name natasha mentioned), I called them today and was told they were at the mercy of the movie dept. I asked to be transfered there, I want answers, no go. How about a manager, no go (imagine that). Natasha supposed to call me back.
I asked about a refund and they say it will be two weeks before they even address it. Un-fracking-acceptable, I say. It is fraud, plain and simple. I sent a further email afterwards stating that I am reporting it to my credit card company and the authorities, including interpol (dont know how far I will go, but hey cant hurt to name drop, what have I got to lose.. a store credit?) Any ideas on what tactics with them have gotten results?
I feel for you guys and girls that got bigger orders stuck in there......

One reason I never ordered a lot of stuff from DVDSoon is because I always had nightmares about this kind of situation happening. I never liked the idea of paying for pre-orders in advance either. This doesn't sound good, and it makes me wonder if they are getting ready to go under.

The best solution for getting your money back is to dispute the charges with your credit card company if it is still possible. Otherwise you may have to write it off as a lose if your time period to dispute has elapsed. If they are going bankrupt there is not much you can do.

I have gotten a response from natasha, with more excuses, detailed, but still excuses.....Claiming my order is in, but is held up because the distributor is going through a merger. whatever. Also points the no returns figures at a group she refers to as "they" ..........
I want to cancel my order, but know I just wont get my money back in any reasonable amount of time. The sinbad set I ordered was released back in may..........shouldnt be a problem at all, available or not.....dont really think a shade of grey applies here.

Fitzcain, it is true that two of Canada's largest distributors merged into one, but they've been doing that in stages over the last several months. I use them and have had no problems getting DVDs. I believe that DVDSoon used a company called HIP Interactive for their supply and they have gone bankrupt. I guess they are scrambling for another supplier.

hmm, that would explain a lot. what i can't get into my head is why no one at SOON is telling you this. my annual purchases are 8.000+ dollars and i'm being treated like fungus.

nobody responds to my email requests or faxes (yes, i've tried it all), there's virtually no movement in orders (and i mean titles that were released weeks ago...like "Constantine", for example, which i pre-ordered in April AND which was - embarrasingly enough - movie of the week...you can just take a wild guess how many customers are still waiting for this title to get shipped), and - of course - the 60 days cancellation policy doesn't help.

the latest developement: my "Desperate Housewives" pre-order (due out September 20) is "on order" for more than one week now, and the cancellation clock is ticking...will i re-order it for 67 dollars?? (i paid 48 minus the 20% discount) i don't think so. did i get an answer asking repeatedly why those pre's ("Cinderella" - out in October - is the other one) are "on order"?? well...take another wild guess...

regards
Roland

Thats exactly my point, it was like pulling teeth to get even this information........The same sinbad set is available from amazon canada, but at a much higher price, but still reasonable as amazon usually is.
My big complaint is the shady way they are going about things.

It comes down to the fact that regardless of what their internal problems are, its basically bait and switch, when they cancel your order, give no refund but let you order at higher price, or order something else. I doubt all these people that are getting stiffed by dvdsoon are happy they have to settle for a second choice....or nothing, or a refund sometime in the far future.

I got my refund request through on July 12th, but as of today - the promised payday, 21 days later, i am still waiting on it to show up on my credit card statement.

It seems that they are only able to refund credits below 100 CAD in time.
A few more days and i will have my cc-company stepping in to get it back for me.

Amazing the stunts these crooks pull. They have been cancelling orders for items they have refused to get for over two months but they still list these titles to suck more new customers in to get hold of their money. Of the 15 top ordered (not shipped) titles only 1 shows as in stock. The website always looks great and professional but they can't develop a means to give customers their money back for three weeks and they can't leave the old system in place until the new one is rolled out?

We all know of Ponzi schemes, robbing Peter to pay Paul. These guys have robbed both Peter and Paul and are still trying to screw Mary.

I haven't asked for a refund, but a replacement. I pre-ordered Casino SE and they shipped me a defective disc (and quite a few other people too). I printed off the affadavit, signed it, scanned it, and emailed it to them within two days of getting the DVD. They processed my claim on 6/24, but have still yet to ship out a replacement DVD. I sent them an email to get a status update, and got absolutely no reply. Like they don't have a boat load of these laying around. Guess I'll just have to eat this one.

Wow, this place really sucks. They won't be getting anymore business from me. Sorry to hear about all the money they jacked from your wallets.

I wasnt told any of that about them being able to do refunds 100 cad or less......mine was 8 bucks or so US.........They have been responding to my emails, but with an excuse or sob story each time......Mine are getting increasingly hostile. Its not the amount really, its the business practice. Its downright theft, really.

Save each of the emails so you have proof when you go to file a dispute with your credit card company. You can show you made goodfaith effort and had the patience to wait, and the retail did not do the same.

It has been 21 days and I haven't heard from them either. Not that I was expecting them to come through, but that 21 day buffer on top of the 60 day cancellation buffer is just an extra sock in the mouth. Oh well. I guess it is time to try and go through the credit card company.
