I sold a box of cds to them very recently. They sent back a few because they're quite anal about condition. If it has any visible scratches, save yourself the trouble and don't send them. The most you can get for any cd is $5, i believe. You can check out their website to get quotes on specific titles and if they're on record. For the most part, I was quite satisfied with their service. They'll send you a check for the total amount and I got more from them than I would from ebay, and saved me a heckuva lot more time. Expect about a week's wait time to receive your check once they've received them. I assume in-store would be much quicker for obvious reasons. And good luck.

Re: selling to second spin

I have sold a lot to Second Spin in the past few years...BUT,In a recent batch they are claiming that 2 of the DVD's I sent to them were not in the package.

Which is not true ,Because they are not here.
When I sell stuff at the computer ,I pile it up and then it goes right into a box.

I guess it's pretty hard to prove ,unless I start taking pictures of the contents ....but then again, they could just say I removed them before sealing the box.

Anyone have these kind of issues with SS?

I guess this is the end of selling stuff to them,It's only $2, but still probably could of made a little more selling on Amazon.

Re: selling to second spin

I have had a few issues with them in the past, not as bad as others like Spun.com. They are really anal about what they purchase, but for some reason every shipment I get from them has something with major damage. I also get a ton of floaters from them. I emailed them and said that perhaps when they check in the new items, the person should make sure the disc is on securely so they don't fall off in transit. They emailed back and said they would pass the info on to the warehouse but they weren't going to do anything about the damaged stuff I received, so I no longer use them.

Re: selling to second spin

used to use them a while back they were ok but not hardly give anything now..
Every once in a while they will have an extra 20 percent coupon you can
use to get an extra 20 percent back on selling.
Usually happen about every 3 or 4 months. They just had one in March..

Re: selling to second spin

If they are so strict about what they will accept, then how is it that I bought a box set (How I Met Your Mother Season 4), and one of the discs is missing? Or a video game (Tiger Woods '09) and inside the '09 case is an '08 disc? Or a copy of Schindlers List where the disc was just laying in the box, outside of the case mangled to hell. These are isolated incidents, over a long time, but still I wonder about the quality control.

Re: selling to second spin

I found my receipt from USPS and it had the weight of my package , so i email
Second Spin to tell them the weight and ask if they can weigh the DVDs I sent them.
That should help determine if something was missing .....their reply was:

We don't have a scale to weigh them on ....what?......I know they do $2.99 standard shipping on all orders , but are they telling me they have never weighed a package before?

They ship stuff all the time ,at some point in the past they must of needed a scale to weigh packages?

Re: selling to second spin

In general I am happy with their service, but recently some of their rejections have been so arbitrary.

2 weeks ago I sent a bunch of stuff to them while they had the March 20% bonus going on - got two rejected. One for missing disc, when I know I checked every item. One for "damaged artwork" for a boxed set that was brand new (they had been offering more than I paid for it) - I literally ripped the shrinkwrap off 5 seconds before putting it in the box to ship.

Re: selling to second spin

Ooh, tricky tricky. They're slyly adjusting their shipping reimbursement policy. Take notice (bold= my emphasis):
Shipping Reimbursement:
(New Rates Effective for orders processed on or after July 6, 2011. Order processed prior to July 5 will be credited under the prior rates)
We now offer shipping credit for up to 25 items! Just meet the BOTH of the following 2 criteria in one transaction we'll give you a shipping credit for the Media Mail rate of your shipment.

Trade in 5 or more items priced $0.25 or higher
Trade in $10 or more
https://www.secondspin.com/stores/ss...lling-help.jsp

Gone are the days when you can throw in a cheap 5th item for the shipping reimbursement. This will likely be the last time I sell to SS.

Re: selling to second spin

I broke my promise of not selling to these morons and sent them a box of CD's, 95% of the CD's I bought from them!
They won't give me $2.25 because they claim that one disc was heavily scratched .
I bought said disc from them 2 months ago , listened to it once and decided to sell back to them !!!!!!......what a bunch of crooks, they Sold me the disc in that condition, and it was good enough to take my money, which was more than $2.50 by the way.

What a RIP OFF !!!!!!.......I just sent the little cretins an angry email telling them if they don't reimburse me for the disc then they will lose me as a customer ! (...andf trust me last year I gave them a lot of $$$.....waaaaaaay more than I should have).

Wanna make a bet they don't make amends .......what they should do is go back to what I originally paid and reimburse me.

Re: selling to second spin

I would be surprised if you got satisfaction. I had the same argument with them last year over a dvd I purchased from them. I never watched and never even opened it. I sold it back to them and they refused it because of condition. Wrote them several emails and they gave me lip service but not any money.

Re: selling to second spin

Second Spin used to be a great place to sell off stuff NO ONE else would buy, but in recent years, they've finally upgraded their inventory system, so a lot of the stuff you used to be able to get $2 or $3 for is now 5 cents.

They're also useless whenever it comes to questions about an order.

I'd like to know if anyone knows of another online buying source that's better.

Re: selling to second spin

I emailed them yesterday protesting their decision not to honor the trade in value of this Cd, and they have yet to respond.

I guess there is not a law about stupidity.
I have been in business 23 years and if I was notified of a situation like this in my business, you can bet I would throw the customer a gift certificate to make him happy.

Re: selling to second spin

Bumping this up with a question instead of bothering with a new thread.

I sold a bunch of stuff to them the other day, but I also had a couple of the items I sold to Second Spin on Amazon that I forgot to remove. Somehow I managed to sell both the items I put on Amazon around the same time. So now the shipment I'll be sending Second Spin will be missing two items, is there anything I need to do about it? I emailed them to ask, and like all CS emails I send to places like Hastings, the person responding to me seemed like they didn't actually read my question.

I was going to just print out the list and write a note about the missing 2 discs, they'll figure it out, right? Anyone had any experience doing this?
