Can we stop with the Wal-Mart threads? (RE: Bargain Forum)
#26
I'm inclined to just leave them ..
if I close them, those who can and do find them useful will complain, and IF we keep them open, those of you who dislike them will complain as well, and nobody will be happy. while a good thing would be to put your city in each walmart thread as suggested above, nobody will do that, and due to the volume I'm not sure we're (being the mods) would bother to change every walmart topic..
moving to store forum for any further discussion

Who cares? Why they do seem to pollute the forums, and all the deals are either not that great or are for bad releases of public domain films let the Walmart shoppers dig through them for their nugget of savings. I mean, anyone who's going to dig through a huge bin hoping for a decent flick isn't going to have any problems digging through a forum looking for something that's going to save them a dollar.

I think what folks are talking about is the new release threads....obviously walmart.com deals and national sales are an exception, no one has pointed those out as worthless...but what everyone who has voice a decenting vote on are new release price threads.
Walmart's prices aren't national, they are specific to each store. The best example was the pawn shop prices. Who the hell cares that your Walmart on the cor. of main and hwy 3 in Lost Nation, Iowa has Open Water for $14.XX?

Certainly if Wal-mart (or dot com) has an unusually low price on a specific title it is valuable info. I mean who wouldn't call the Jeremiah S1 deal a super bargain worthy of a thread? But "My local Wal-mart has Spiderman 2 for $14.99"?? Give me a break!! Use common sense. This is not valuable information and certainly not worthy of it's own thread.

I think most people who post for new releases at Walmart are either not aware that the prices vary, or they want to let others know how good of a deal they got.

I have no problems with them, even though i hardly visit them. I think they serve a good reminder for those who forget to check that Walmart may have a low price on a particular release since they don't have a nationwide weekly flyer.
