it doesn't surprise me that more people watch tv on there than movies. i mean, it's pretty much the point of cutting the cable. if they stop focusing on new releases on discs, i'm fucking out.

I backed down to 1 title out at a time and unlimited streaming. We then picked up Hulu Plus (which sucks shit btw) and using the BB and Redboxs that are 2 minutes away from our house. Works out to be about $30/mo which I'm fine with.

Bye bye Saved section in the Watch Instant queue.

There is an issue with the Instant Queue where titles will drop into the Saved section for a couple of hours. It usually happens over night. I wonder what will happen to these titles now? Will they disappear and not come back?

What happens when a title expires without warning, like when Sony pulled their content back in June? Will we have no way of knowing what has disappeared?

The people who make these decisions aren't into movies the way their customers are.

Hulu's more useful by hooking up the PC to the TV and sound system so you can watch everything on the site, without the available episodes limitations the PS3 and 360 have.

We use a Samsung Blu-Ray player. Same limitations?

The removal of the "saved" instant queue is silly. What if something comes back. How will I know? I will likely not even realize. Also, you'd think they'd use it as a marketing ploy. Hey u wanna watch this.... Well just pay the 7.99 more for DVDs u can. Another bad marketing move.

Not sure I understand why they got rid of the saved feature with streaming. I had quite a few titles there already, and now I guess when things expire they will just be deleted from my queue? One reason I liked Netflix was because it made it easy for me to keep track of the insane amount of movies I wanted to see, new and old. Now, with things being deleted without my control, I am finally peeved with them. They sure are going out and making every stupid decision they can over the last couple of months.

I've got a Panasonic Blu-ray player, and the Hulu option is basically non-existent unless you're a Hulu Plus subscriber.

Anyone not get email notification of disc shipping lately? The last one I got was on Sept. 13, but I have received some discs since then. I was wondering if they've stopped it while they get "Quikster" ready to go.

I've received my typical amount of notifications over the past few weeks.

The Wonder Years is now streaming on Netflix. Haven't checked to see if the music is edited.

The main theme isn't correct, but the other music in the pilot seems to be correct. Then again I haven't watched the full thing, just checked it out here and there, specifically the very start and the awesome ending scene.

The new version of the theme is just awful. Then again, at least they didn't do something as stupid as what they did for Married With Children.

If anyone else knows more about the music, let us know.

Does anybody know why Netflix would skip a dvd on my queue (that shows to be available) and ship something much further down?

I had the DVDs for White Collar set up to ship next but Netflix skipped all those and shipped Hex instead. It doesn't say that White Collar is back ordered so I'm not sure why it happened.

Any ideas? If this question was already answered, I'm sorry.

I seem to recall that Netflix prioritizes disks that are in a warehouse/shipping center closer to you. So it might skip your #1 if it's two states away, if your #2 is in a warehouse sixty miles from you.

draven31 10-12-11 06:30 PM

re: Anyone's Netflix disc delivery service starting to suck?

So they will skip the entire series and ship another?

re: Anyone's Netflix disc delivery service starting to suck?

That blows. How are you supposed to know which disc is in which warehouse when you order your queue?

draven31 10-12-11 07:25 PM

re: Anyone's Netflix disc delivery service starting to suck?

This is the first time it's happened. Hence the confusion. I dont mind watching Hex now but it wasn't a very well known series compared to White Collar so thats why I wonder why they switched it..

This is what they posted on their blog three years ago but the complimentary disc rule may have changed by now:

http://blog.netflix.com/2008/12/new-...g-process.html

Now, if your first choice is not available in your local shipping center, we immediately send the next locally available movie in your Queue. And whenever possible, we also send your first choice from another of our 55 shipping centers throughout the U.S. When this happens, you end up with a complimentary extra DVD rental.

Previously, if the movie you wanted was not in stock locally, we would simply try to send it from another shipping center. Since this DVD was typically delivered from farther away, it took longer to arrive and you could end up without a DVD for a few days. This was especially inconvenient for our members on 1-disc plans.

re: Anyone's Netflix disc delivery service starting to suck?

Ok then... Thanks for the info. I'm not sure I agree though. I guess the next question is if Netflix didn't have any copy's of this show at a center close to me. Is it going to be skipped every time it's number one in the queue or just when there is something in my queue thats closer?

So now when I log into Netflix, all it shows is my former instant viewing queue. This is useless to me since I cancelled the streaming part of my plan. I cannot find any way to get to my actual disc queue and use that. Anyone else having this problem? Any idea how to fix it?

Nope, not having that problem.

I called customer service about the problem, who then informed me that some of their tools are down that let them look into my account and see what I'm seeing, so he was sorry that he couldn't be much help. At this point, I can only assume that the company is trying to go out of business.

They still do it. I've had a few like that recently.
