How is DVDPLANET.COM?

I've never ordered off them, and they seem to have the cheapest price on the Kurosawa Samurai set. Overall how are they service wise, any problems, or even if there is somewhere i can get the set equal or cheaper?

thanks!

DVDplanet is a pretty good site. Most titles are priced well and shipping is free over $25. I've been going to them for a few years now and have never had a problem. On some occasions though a title may be back-ordered and it takes a little longer to receive but that's rare. Overall, a good site for new DVDs.

I had a problem with them when I ordered Wild Strawberries: CC... It was taking a long time over the internet to get my notice of shipment and I needed it for a paper I was doing. I called them about it they tell me the order was never placed so I had to order it again. Ended up with 2 copies and such and had to deal with their poor customer service. I will not be ordering from them again.

Went from best to worst online retailer in just a month. A search will bring up plenty of threads. Here are some hilights:

What's going on with DVDPlanet

DVDPlanet no more...

What the hell is wrong with dvdPlanet?

Just read the customer reviews at dvdpricesearch.com from 6/03 (when they were sold to another company) to present to see what's been going on over there the past year:

I have been ordering through them since 1992(Includes Ken Crane's).Only had one problem with a double order last year-I returned the second shipment and they said the box was empty(yeah-right).They did give me 100 dollars in free dvds last yr-I defended them here while everyone else were complaining-maybe thats why they gave me the free dvds.

Yep, I got the same $100 in free DVD's as well for defending them here in the beginning of the transition, since I had been a very loyal customer for years back when Ken Crane owned it and sold laserdiscs, and was willing to be patient. Unfortunately, I ended up losing much more than that in the end in non-shipped preorders that were billed and non-credited refunds for the many DVD's I had to return that they shipped me in error/duplicate. The pinnacle of incompetence was the message "We are currently experiencing heavy call volume. If no one is available you will be disconnected after 15 minutes." I shit you not, that was the actual message that came on when you tried to call. After stupidly waiting on hold for many 15 minute intervals over a couple of months time, I finally gave up and wrote the charges off as a learning experience.

To be fair, I haven't ordered anything from them since the debacle from last June\July, so I can't comment on their state of affairs now, but reading posts on the web seems to indicate there has been no improvement.
