my new ebay problem? ever experience this?
back on Feb. 29th I won an auction. the seller accepted check/mo so I sent him a check. I asked him to let me know when he recieved it. on Mar. 6th I recieved an email stating that he recieved the check and that my stuff would be shipped out the next day. well as of today I haven't recieved anything and my check was never cashed. I have sent numerous emails with not 1 response. I have been trying for over a week to contact him. not sure what I should do next. ideas?

Strange that a seller would ship the day after receiving a check. That would open himself to being screwed. He could be waiting for your check to clear first and was slow in depositing it. I would do an info request on ebay and get his phone number. Try to give him a call and see what's up.

Get his contact information, and call him on the phone. Confronting people on the phone is the best way to go. In case he is intentionally dodging you, it's much harder to cower behind a phone than an e-mail.

ok here's an update -
the seller contacted me and still states that the items were shipped last week. he said if I don't recieve them today he'll give a full refund. my check still hasn't been cashed which leads me to believe that he may have never sent the stuff.

Maybe he's waiting for the box of replacement checks he ordered from one of those thrid-party check printers using your numbers.
More likely is that he found someone else to sell it to at a higher price and your stuff will disappear in the mail. He seems a bit to willing to return your money.
BTW: what is the item, if you don't mind telling?

Of course, you can always just cancel payment on the check and forget about the whole thing, move on with your life, and find another auction with the items you are looking for. Seller may leave negative feedback, but then again he/she is exactly the most responsible party.
It's also very hard to believe they would have shipped any item without first cashing and clearing your check. As mentioned above, they may be confusing you with someone else, or are just plain daffy.

NEW UPDATE:
I recieved my games last week and my check still hasn't been cashed. I was going to post this when I recieved them but it slipped my mind. I just don't see how my check could have been processed(what the seller stated) and not be cashed yet. it has been over a month.

I'll admit, you are certainly taking a risk when you ship before verifying that a check clears. However, I've done the same thing, especially if the amount is low and the feedback is high.
It's possible for a check to bounce even after one month,
so waiting 2 weeks won't guarantee you won't be screwed.
Most people won't be thrilled if you wait over a month to
ship.
If it's a higher priced item, I'll definately wait the time it takes for a check to clear. However, I would probably ask if they could send a
MO instead. I recently sold 2 DVDs for a combined total (w/ shipping) of $18. I shipped the discs over a week ago and
already exchanged feedback. I just cashed the checks
2 days ago.
How much was the auction for?
Anyway, you received the items. He'll cash the check eventually.
