They stuffed up my latest order too. However, at least you guys had a shipment; for mine they just decided to cancel it before it even sent.
Why? Because of a "Credit Authorisation Error"; regardless of the fact that there were several thousands available on the card, and that the pending transaction had already appeared.
Emailed them about it and was told "feel free to re-submit the order at your leisure" or some b.s..... obviously without the 20% off.
Bunch of W@nkers, the lot of em. The one time in recent history a special like this happens and they fudge it up.

I see you are located in Australia....so perhaps the process you had to follow was a bit different in order for you to get your dvds. By saying this I dont mean to imply that simply because you are located overseas you should have been serviced differently. I understand your frustration. It could have happened to me as well. What I mean is this-
Giving them a call and letting them know what happened is the right thing to do. Esp. with such a pricey set. Whith this said- it is a completely different story if they decide that mailing the package back is not worth it.
It is the right thing to do....that's all!

Do what your very own conscience tells you to do, don't ask the majority of the people to act as your own conscience. If you're basically an honest person then you will do what is right, if you're basically a crook, then you'll do what is wrong.
I mean - I don't mean to piss anybody off or anything, but isn't that the logical answer to a question like this??

Anyone else, I would say call them and tell them their mistake and go from there. DDD I am not so sure about. I returned 2 things to them, one was a breeze and it was a case like yours and no hassles at all. In this case, they even mailed me a free postage slip, something you should ask for if you call. The second was a disaster and it took me forever to get my money. FOREVER. They made another error in my latest batch of orders on an equally priced item and I just sold in on ebay rather than go through that again.

dont think DDD ever stuffed up an order of mine..
ive only ever had 2 errors in shipping.. i got sent the wrong friday the 13th disc.. and i got sent toxic avenger 2 instead of the 1st one... all my other orders have gone without a hitch..
but i dont know what id do if they went wrong, mailing back to them from australia would be a bitch.. and i wouldnt get my replacement or whatever for a few months im sure..

i agree with this. if you are asking you just might have some moral delima. however it is not black and white. if it works out for you better, then takr full advantage of it. you are not ripping them off if they screw up. it's not like there was fraud on your part.
my advice, if you planned of picking up the aline bos, then keep it qithout question.

If you want the Alien set, I would just keep it and buy Alias elsewhere......
I wonder if most of these people telling you to call them first have ever actually tried returning something to DDD. I am a big fan of DDD in general and after Amazon, buy most of my dvds there.
BUT......their return policy sucks. Amazon they are not. It will be about a 2 month wait before you get your replacement if you decide to do a return. I had 3 different dvds arrive from them damaged over the space of a week or so in mid October. So for each one I had to call and request a mailing label. They will not send out a replacement until they get the damaged one back.
(This is why Amazon excels with CS.....they send out the replacement right away 2nd Day and I wait to get the replacement and make sure that is ok before sending the damaged one back).
Well, it took me two weeks before I got the mailing labels in the mail. I sent the packages back the same day. And I just got shipping confirmation for the reships a few days ago. So it took 5-6 weeks for the packages to get back to DDD and for them to reship. I did call and check on them a few weeks ago.....and was told that they were backlogged with returns.....so I suspect it will be about 10 times worse now that it is so close to Christmas. I had never had to return anything to DDD before (getting 3 scratched discs in the same week from them really sucked, lol) with easily over 100 orders, if not over 200, so I never had any complaints with them before. but their return policy is total bullshit.
................especially for this reason: the 3 things I had to return were all box sets, each with only one disc being messed up. If it was their policy to ship a replacement right away, and a different disc was messed up in the replacement, I could swap discs and still have a good set to keep. I've had that happen with Amazon a few times. There was no need to do a second send back. But with DDD, if anything is damaged in the replacements that are taking forever to get here.......i'll have to send them back again. It's a really terrible policy. I won't be buying box sets from DDD anymore.

This exact same thing just happened to me, as well. I did call DDD and told them, and they informed me they'd send a pre-paid address form to ship back Alien, and then they'd send Alias upon my return. However, they then told me Alias is backordered until the 19th. I had been planning on giving Alias as a gift on the 15, though, so I sent them an email and told them to never mind, I was keeping Alien instead. They did not email back yet (it's been 4 days) so I'm assuming they accepted that.

If it wasn't DDD, I might say go for it, big bonus for you--but my personal experience has been that they have always given great customer service, always fixed my problems, including exchanging discs for me past 30 days (and with no exchange delay). I've taken advantage of screw ups from companies before, I can't pretend I am the most honest guy, but usually it's times where those same companies have bitten me on the ass.
So, that's my personal take.

If you call them and tell them, they will most likely immediately charge you for Aliens Quadrilogy and you will not get credited until they recieve the RMA. Keep in mind. I've had them claim to seen RMA labels multiple times and never gotten one.
Their CS talks a good game, but they have ZERO followthrough.
I'd check your CC and make sure you didnt get charged for Aliens....

On a very positive note, these threads usually break down by this point to the questioning of someone's character, moral fibre or lack of.
Congrats all around.

Well, if they want to switch it out, then they'd have to pay for you to ship Alien back to them, and for the shipping on the Alias set. Then they'd also probably have to bear some expense relative to restocking the Alien box. Plus, they would probably have to compensate you in some way for the wait and inconvenience.
I expect that if you call them and let them know, they won't want you to send it back.

It probably varies from situation to situation, but DDD will probably want the incorrect product returned to them.

This is weird b/c the exact same thing happened to me. They are sending me a mailing label, but I'd like to know who dropped the ball so badly on this that it's not just a once-done mistake. If three people on here had it happen, I wonder how many other people had it happen....

My thoughts are keep the set if you want it. If not, sell it and use the money for what you want. If DDD were easier to deal with, my views would probably be different. I actually correct cashiers when they under charge me.
But right now I have little respect for DDD and the way they handle their mis-orders. If you send the set back, who knows what will happen....

OK...how about this?
They combined the "in stock" titles from two of my titles into one box. Very cool!
But then I look in the box and there's a "Warner Brothers Classics" 7 DVD set in there. FOR NO REASON! They didn't charge me for it. It's not on my receipt. They didn't ship it in place of something else. It's just there.
I debated selling it on Ebay for a while but then just decided to call them up. They said they would be sending a return label and then I send it back to them and they will *long pause* restock it. I thought they would at least give me a coupon or something. I was like....WHAT? I'm not sendin this thing back if they don't give me a mailer either. It's a big boxed set!
I'm really happy with the service I've gotten from them in the past but damn...wish I had gotten the Alien set. I would have kept it.

I'd say if you want it, keep it.
I will usually eat mistakes when buying online, figuring it's part of the risk of online shopping. Sometime a size won't be right, or I get the non-DTS version of a disk that was supposed to be DTS, etc.
When it's an effort to return them (I try to order clothes from Gap, Banana Republic, etc where you can return them in the store, but sometimes I go with JCrew or LL Bean which isn't easy) I usually chalk it up to the vagaries (sp?) of online shopping.
In this case it worked for you. I'd keep it.
And I also win the award for the most flaming rationalization of the day. Thank you very much!

I requested a mailer from them last week to return Alien Quadrilogy, but I haven't recieved it yet. Anyone have any idea how long it takes to get one of the these? I'm thinking I'll give it three weeks, then I claim it as mine since I made an attempt to get it back to them.
Thanks in advance for any info.
