Or they just are not responding to your email. I'm starting to have to email them twice before I get a response about this. It's always the same response from them, technical problem they will have it fixed with a few days. Right!

It's definitely frustrating not being able to see the gc amount in your account though. Amazon needs to fix this "upgrade" quick, because this is just not professional.
Same here. My Indiana Jones was fully paid for with GCs and therefore no CC was linked to the order, although the shipping confirmation email was missing the GCs too.

I've found if you are not getting satisfaction in your responses from CSR's at Amazon, return and email saying that you want your situation escalated to a manager. In the past when I've been given the run-around this has gotten me an answer quicker and to my satisfaction.

Finally got a response to my inquiries. They're going to credit my CC for the overcharge for one order and look into why their system is not allowing me to apply gift certificate funds for another order.

Btw, when did they stop accepting emails sent to [email protected] ?

I've been using Amazon for years for a lot of my shopping(dvd and otherwise), and I have used all kind of gift certificates, share the love, trivia, etc. and I have never had a single problem with things sticking. I keep careful track of all my numbers, and they are always right on. When I have had a problem with any part of my order(missing, damaged, coupon not being accepted, etc.) I write via the help page and I get an answer in less than 24 hours and usually a $5 promo gc for my trouble. Maybe I spend too much money.

I'm disputing my charge from Amazon.com due to their NEW business practices. I'm also been trying to resolve this issue with Amazon.com. Initially this is what I was told, but low and behold quite a few days past without a response. I decided to contact Amazon.com again to find out what was really going on. Ashley W. was able to pull up my order and found out that the GC specialist assigned to this order had look at my account. She personally contacted this person and told me that the GC-specialist would response to me within the hour. She was very professional and to my amazement the GC specialist did respond in less than an hour, BUT with the SAME message above!!! At that point I had it with Amazon.com and send a response back.

Here is what I received, from my assigned gc specialist today in response to my email. Notice that they claim that not only do they have a technical glitch with deducting GC on orders, they also state they have a technical glitch with refunding orders!

Thank you for contacting us at Amazon.com.

First, please let me apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced with this order.

I have verified that you redeemed the gift certificate onto your account. It appears that a technical problem prevented the gift certificate from being applied to your order.

Generally, we would apply the gift certificate funds to your order or request a refund for the amount that was erroneously charged to your credit card.

However, we are currently experiencing another technical problem and we are unable to take these actions at this time. Rest assured we are investigating this situation and our technical team is working as quickly as possible to resolve this issue.

Once this has been resolved, we will then be able to take the appropriate actions regarding your order.

We appreciate your business and hope that you will give us another chance to prove the quality of our service to you.

Thank you for shopping at Amazon.com.

Please let us know if this e-mail resolved your question:

This is asbsolutely absurd. They then had the never to ask whether this resolved my problem. Naturally, I told them NO!

I feel for you I've been going though the seem thing for nearly 3 weeks now and Amazon doesn't act like they are in any hurry to fix this. I've talked to them 6 times been given different lines of B.S. each time with nothing being done. Because of GC money disappearing not only my paid pre-order of Indy but also my paid pre-order of Two Towers are going no where says on my account they need a valid payment option to proceed! They're already PAID FOR!! They say it's a TECH problem so fix it. If it takes this long to fix then make a work around so orders can be shipped!

NO COUPONS-NO TRIVIA-WON'T OR CAN'T HONOR GIFT CERTIFICATES=SEEMS LIKE AMAZON.COM IS TRYING TO COMMIT SUICIDE

Just my 2 cents

I found out today Amazon dropped the GC for my Indiana Jones box set after assuring me earlier by email that it was still applied to the order. The charge was posted to my credit card account minus the GC. I immediately called customer service and the CSR promised to issue a refund.

I have similar problem with my $25 gift certificate I got from using accumulating 2500 points on my Amazon.com VISA card. I used it on my Indiana Jones Trilogy DVD preorder. It showed up on the order status page correctly for days afterward. Then I went on a vacation. When I got back, I got the DVD in my mail, but without the $25 gift certificate discount on my order.

Anyone know what's going on?

My order for LoTR-TTT order from 8/2 is not showing the $10 gc that was applied, but for the order I just placed last night for T3 and PotC still show the $20 gc I just used. This leads me to the conclusion that their system is fixed, but all of our original GCs are gone.

After reading through the thread, my impression is that emailing them at this point in time will accomplish nothing. My official game plan will be as follows: If I am overcharged, I will notify them the day after LOTR ships with the statement that if $XX is not credited back to my card within a week, I will be forced to dispute the charges with my CC. No need to give them any leeway after seeing how they have handled everyone else's problems.

Don't be too sure that the problem is fixed because some recent orders are still showing the GCs applied to them. It usually is some time after the orders are placed that they drop off. I too have a more recent order with the GCs still showing on it, but seeing as how the GCs don't seem to disappear until about a week or two before they ship out (at least from my past experience) it might not mean anything.

This isn't just a recent problem with Amazon. It is an old and reocurring one. I would be surprised if they have fixed the problem this quickly, or even if they are actually, actively trying to for that matter.

Well, I finally got some type of (useful) response:

Thank you for contacting us at Amazon.com.

After researching your account, I have learned that a technical problem is preventing your gift certificate funds and your $15.00 promotional certificate from properly applying to order ##########. Please be assured we have confirmed that only $14.68 should be charged to your credit card.

As soon as we are able to, we will write back with a resolution as I have forwarded this information to the correct department for research.
<---Now correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he just finish the research?

Something is better than nothing I suppose. Anyway, I'll wait until my order ships to see if it's charged correct. Otherwise I'll dispute the charge.

Add me to the list of disappearing GCs. Lost $10 on my Looney and Sopranos sets. Its getting to be too much hassle to order from Amazon. 2 months ago the STL was going away.

Well, I'm glad to see I'm not alone in this.

I had a $100 GC I used on 3 preorders with STL. Since then, one preorder has disappeared, one is on hold and one is yet to come. When I called to ask what the hold up was, they said it was a technical problem.

BUT WHY ARE THEY MAKING ME WAIT???

I asked if they could just cancel the orders, let me order again and credit me $100--nope, can't do it. But it's not MY fault. This is rediculous. The ONLY thing I can do, she said, is wait.

So I'm the only guy on my block without The Matrix Reloaded.

A week after I called and I'm still waiting for Amazon to refund me for the missing GC on my Indy box set. Earlier this week I received one those after researching your account and technical problem emails with promises of issuing a refund soon. But nothing yet.

For those with missing GCs I would continue to check your accounts because my missing GC reappeared mysteriously yesterday. I found it when I placed a new order and there was a $10 credit waiting to be applied to the order total. I don't know if Amazon is still going to issue me a refund but I don't really care as much if the GC sticks to the new order.

I received another form letter from Amazon about my $100 GC that is not working. So now I have 5 DVDs I ordered with STL that have not shipped and are being cancelled one-by-one. This is really ticking me off.

What really upsets me is that there's no reason I see that they can't just cancel the GC and apply a new one. Or credit my account. Instead, every time I ask about it, they keep sending me the same email that says it'll be fixed in 2-3 days. GRRRRR!!!!

after several emails this thing is just about over-

Greetings from Amazon.com.

First, allow me to apologize for the delay in responding to your e-
mail inquiry. Please be assured that we have been reviewing this
situation.

After further research of the gift certificates with the claim codes
QRQU-AUPYFJ-KA and LEEU-5S7Y-93SS, I have found they qualify for
an extension. We are aware that a few states have developed
different legal guidelines for gift certificates and we are happy to
comply.

I have extended your gift certificates for a total of $31.53
indefinitely so that you will be able to use the funds at any point
in the future.

However, we are unable to extend the remaining funds of $8.42 from
the gift certificate with the claim code KCL7-XJJ-E38D. However,
as previously mentioned, our policy indicates that we do not honor
gift certificates once the expiration date has passed.

I hope this solution is satisfactory. Thank you for shopping at
Amazon.com.

Best regards,

Mandi G.

I hear you JuryDuty! I had my Indiana Jones order disappear. I had emailed amazon a couple of times. The last email from them was that they were looking into the situation and they would try to resolve the issue in 3-5 days. So, I wait and I guess them deleting my order is how they are resolving the issue! I called them only to have the CSR say he will have to email another department to look into the problem. Now my Finding Nemo order is messed up and will probably get dropped off soon as well as my Lord of the Rings: Two Towers later this month. I guess we'll be having threads soon titled: "Remember when amazon had good customer support?" or "Remember when you could get an order specialist that actually could help you out?" Oh well, I guess this is a good time to work on our anger management huh? Here's hoping everyone's orders get fixed one way or another!

That's what I hate. They keey saying "it'll be fixed in 2-3 days" or "3-5 days." It has been several weeks for me now. The biggest problem is that deleting my order doesn't resolve it--because I'm still out $100!

I certainly hope they resolve this in a high-fashion manner. I've had great support in the past. I don't want to have to start turning elsewhere for my preorder purchases. Help, Amazon!

Just for the record, they cancelled ANOTHER of my preorders today because of that bad GC. Why don't they realize this is their fault and do something about it???

man...just to update this ongoing saga. I finally got back an email from the gc dept. and they said they were sorry my order was dropped. The guy re-instated my order and bumped it to 2nd day shipping free. I was feeling great and decided to go look at the order page at amazon.com. I get there and see that the order looks alright except that my gc funds have not been applied to the order. I clicked applied gc balance to order and whamo! It says I applied 0.00 funds to this order and the free shipping gets bumped. I am kinda mad at this and quickly call amazon.com. I get a CSR and she sees what's going on and quickly makes the shipping 0.00 again. I thank her and leave my order alone hoping all is well. Later that evening, I go over to see if my order will be shipping soon since the Indiana Jones boxset is available already and I get the dreaded "Payment revision required".

At this point I'm just scratching my head and thinking amazon system is really jacked up. I decide to just place a new order for the boxset and apply the gc funds that is showing in my account. Everything works okay! The new order is able to take my gc funds that the old order would not take so everything. The new order is exactly the same as my original order, ie. STL, free super saver shipping, etc. so the balance required was the same as my gc funds that had returned to my balance after the gc-dept ppl looked at my order. I quickly cancelled my original order that was having all kinds of issues and it now looks like I am okay with this particular order....now I just need to fix my other orders if possible...

quick note: do not cancel your order unless you have gotten one of those emails from the gc-dept. from amazon AND check your gc funds balance. If you cancel one of those orders where your gc is missing, the funds do not return to your balance. Just found that out myself as I was attempting to self-correct one of my problem orders
