Maybe. I was once able ot get a refund for a car stereo installation at Best Buy when they had a free installation special hte following week.

just return the old one saying that it's broke, then ask for store credit. Turn around and buy the one with the free remote.

I used a gift card I got some time ago to buy some computer speakers 3 sundays ago. The next Sunday it was advertised in their ad with a 5.00 instant rebate and a 15.00 mail in rebate. I took my receipt in the day the ad was out and they did a price match receipt with no problems and gave me a gift card for 5.23 and and a rebate to send in. I guess BB is not all that bad.

I think if you bring it in you'll be just fine. I've found they can be OK w/things like this. In a sense you're getting them to price match, so having it opened shouldn't matter.

I think they price-match up to 30 days. Last year, I bought a computer monitor for $179.99 (cheaper after mail in rebates!).

The next week, I saw a Best Buy ad that had the same one on sale for $149.99, so I brought back the receipt and they credited my credit card $30 + tax. Worked for me!
