Stupidness at Coconuts!
I went to my local Coconuts today because they always put stuff out early, I saw Family Guy: Volume 2 behind the counter, I asked how much it was and the stupid moron who works there told me $49.99, I said thank you and began on my way back through the store, he stopped me and told me that it was on sale when it first came out and that I missed it, I called him an idioit and walked out the door. The set doesn't come out until next week and the moron told me it came out last week!
This guy is stupid as hell, he thinks he knows everything there is to know about movies and release dates. He told me that info I get offline is always wrong. When 'The Omega Man' and 'Soylent Green' came out I was having a hard time finding them so I asked him (before I found out how stupid he was) and he told me that the movies didn't exisit on DVD and the info I got off (here mostly) the internet was wrong! So five minutes later I found them and went back I showed him, he felt pretty dumb!
Anyway, I think this guy is stupid and would like to know who to contact to report him of breaking street date, he has pissed me off enough to get him and his store in trouble. So if anyone can help, it'd be great!

I've never even seen a Coconuts, Vegas is like a third world country! Anyway, if you ever run into his manager you could probably tell him he has a big mouthed clerk, maybe he'll get told not to run his mouth so much.
And I have to say, stupidness has got to be one of my favoritest words ever!

Should I assume this post is some sort of a joke? Poking fun at people who get all wound up over some insignificant incident with a store clerk? Or should I just not say anything.

(Disclaimer: This next section of my post is in no way to insult you or to put you down, but rather to make a point.)
You have a number of spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors in your post. How would you feel if as a result of seeing those errors in your post, I posted the following message:
You are an idiot, you stupid moron. I want to get you fired from your job because of the mistakes you made.
I want to say so much more, but will end here so as not to get suspended.

Judging from your post, if you talk to the guy's manager long enough the clerk will probably receive Employee of the Month as reward for not slapping the **** out of you.
Do you make an ass of yourself like this in public very often?

I am soooo sorry that you all feel that I am an a$$, but the fact of the matter is this guy is an idiot!
Note to self: Don't ever tell anyone anything ever again

Re: Stupidness at Coconuts!
Your logic escapes me.
First of all, you went there seeking stuff before the release date. The clerk [in all his "stupid" glory] decided he was going to be helpful/knowledgable by pointing out [mistakenly] that Family Guy was cheaper the week before..
Now, like marty888 said your first mistake was shopping at Coconuts. Only once in a great while do they have a deal that's worth giving them your $$$. If you frequent this site you'll know where to go.
Second, if you COULDN'T wait until next week for Family Guy, buy it and just get the difference if it's cheaper on Tuesday.
Third, what difference does it make if the clerk is an idiot or not? And why would you want to hold the entire store responsible for this one guy? [Especially if they do, as you say, put new releases out early]

i've been in Coconuts, Strawberries, FYE, and all the other stores owned by Trans World Entertainment, and they mostly deal in CD's, not DVD's...I am sure you can ask the same clerk about any CD there and I can almost bet you they can help you find anything in a split second.
and DVDProfessor...most clerks at stores (I worked at Wal-Mart in Electronics for a year) don't get paid enough to care what you think, to care about street dates on DVD's, and don't get paid enough to be called an idiot, i'd go back there and apologize to that clerk, I know he don't get paid enough to care about that either, but a job's a job and if you don't want to do it because apparently "you're too good", then someone has to. but remember in 20 years, he could be in charge of Trans World Entertainment
EDIT:I should also mention that the clerks at most stores that do not specialize in DVD's are only given a list of the major new releases, Family Guy, Soylent Green, and Omega Man are extremely specialized releases and to most people are just small blips on the release radar. I can almost be certian he never even heard of Omega Man & Soylent Green until seconds before you harrassed him. and outside a really small facet of the DVD & TV buying audience, Family Guy is unknown.

A couple of things about working in these places, since I do:
-Every 5 seconds you get asked for a movie (half of which don't even exist on DVD, and the people know that, but are asking anyway "in case"), plus you see so many titles coming and going that you just reach a point where you can't keep track anymore. Just reading these boards alone sometimes you can feel that. Is so-and-so actually out on DVD or do people just talk about it all the time? Plus stores usually get stuff in a few days before street date, but sometimes titles come in as early as 2 or 3 weeks before, and just sit in the back room where employees pasy by and look all day long. So by the time something is finally out, it's going to seem to them like they've had it longer than that. Especially if the store has in fact put it out early! Being helpful is usually a thankless job anyway. People aren't robots, if you want to get 100% accurate information from them ask them if it is possible to look the information you seek up on a computer.
DVDp: How much is that Family Guy boxed set?
Clerk: $49.99
DVDp: Thank you.
Clerk: It was on sale when it first came out, you missed it.
DVDp: Really? I understood it's due out next week, would you be able to check in your computer and see what the correct release date is and if it will be on sale then?
You get your information and the clerk is corrected. By calling him a moron, he just makes another mental note to be useless to anyone shoping there.

Can I ask what the difference is if the guy says it came out 9 years ago?

Did he even hear you call him a name? I'm guessing one of two things happened:
-you said it low and no one heard you, but you feel good about it, or
-you said it loud and made a fool of yourself.
either way you're right, he doesn't need an appology.
