No particular reason. From what I've personally seen, 1 - 2 week turnover times from online stores isn't that uncommon, and since I had no idea how big of an operation Digital Eyes was or how many used discs they process each week, I didn't think much of it. This is the first genuinely negative experience I've had with an online vendor, though, so I'm not likely to be so passive in the future.

I will definitely be contacting them in regards to the condition of my DVDs, but am not expecting to get much out of it seeing how nothing can be proven either way.
I am honestly not sure what to say about this. We process the quotes one at a time so there is really no way that there could be a mixup between quotes. It does not benefit us to return DVDs for no reason because we do pay the freight back. I am very sorry if you feel like we switched discs on you or did something dishonest. Please email me at [email protected] and we can take care of this matter.

Thanks,

Mark

I wanted to post to confirm a couple of things mentioned earlier in this thread, but to DVD DVD DVD I want to say that I recently made some truly prideful (and as a the mod put it, "unhelpful") posts on another DVD talk forum. It took a few snarky responses from other posters and some very stern but courteous messages from the mod to remind me how important it is to temper one's posts with reason and respect, even to the point of knowing when to let an issue go. What became most clear to me was that even if the subjects I posted about were valid, the manner in which I explored them was completely inappropriate and counterproductive to my intent (and disrespectful of board policy and common courtesy to boot). I didn't realize it when I was posting of course, but after some reflection, came to see that. In the end, I’m sorry for the way I wasted that board’s space, the mod's time, and my energy. These are excellent forums and although the mods can be a bit strict, they are generally fair and responsible. So are our fellow posters... mostly

The main points I wanted to mention though were these:

1) I've traded in several hundred dollars worth of DVDs to DigitalEyes and not had a single disc rejected. In fact, they have proven to be one of the most responsive and customer friendly etailers I've ever dealt with, and have always honored the prices they quoted me. On top of that, the amounts they give for trade are well above the competition and in some cases competitive with what I could have sold the discs for on Ebay. That's a good deal since it saves the time and hassles of running an auction.

2) I've ordered more than $400 worth of used discs from them and had only one problem with a used disc that arrived in a cracked case. The disc itself was fine, but the case was damaged (possibly in transit). Since it was an irregular style of case, I was planning on making a replacement anyway, so I chose not to return it or make an issue out of it. I mention this because out of all the discs I've purchased, not a single used disc from DigitalEyes has had a scratch or trace of wear, and (with that one exception) the cases/covers have all been in very good to like new condition. The discs, I say again, have universally been pristine. As a result of this, I appreciate the high standards they apply to trade-ins, since it allows me to buy used discs from them with confidence based on a solid track record. I can't say the same thing for used discs I've purchased from any other online retailer. Not one.

I'm not denying anyone's negative experience or suggesting they keep silent about it, just contributing what I've seen firsthand in my dealings with DigitalEyes. Hopefully you can take up the issue with DigitalEyes directly (and civilly) and come to an understanding. If you do find a resolution, you should post that here as well (courteously I might add, if you want anyone to take it seriously) so we can all learn about the outcome and benefit.

One more thing, in the terms they send you confirming a quote, DigitalEyes states that it reserves the right to reject a disc for any reason. I know that seems arbitrary, but they do let you know that rule up front. The way I look at that is every time I trade in a disc, I prepare myself for the potential (however unpleasant or unlikely) that some of my shipment will be returned. I just accept that as part of the transaction and make sure I send only the best quality discs I can (considering the DVD itself, the packaging, and the inserts). If something is returned to me, I can’t blame them. That’s simply part of the process they’ve established and stated from the start.

So far, I've followed their standards as best I can and have had no complaints. In fact, I've placed 2 orders from them within the last week for used discs, and don’t see any reason to stop yet.

If you're suggesting I'm the "shill", you must have missed the posts I've been involved in concerning other etailers or my recent (somewhat embarassing) run in the Clubs forum. Believe me, I just call things as I see them - even when doing so isn't popular.

There are a lot of good etailers discussed on these boards. Digitaleyes is just one of them. DVD Empire, Deepdiscount DVD, Columbia House, Amazon, and plenty of others are also solid and have track records that bring customers back to them. Seems to me its just as important to share our favorable experiences with these companies as it is to share the negative.

Hawkrune - In case no one else says it, I just wanted to say the above expressed is a really good sentiment about carrying oneself on-line (in general). We all sometimes end up venting/freaking out while on-line (myself included), but it's what you learn and how you carry yourself after the fact - and after being reminded by others - that's important.

As for the mods here, I don't find them too strict: a banning would have taken place much, much earlier if that was the case . The fact that there's a warning means you're actually given a second chance, as you yourself described

And to stay on topic, like you stated, when sending in discs you have to be prepared to receive some of your discs back. I just packed up a box of around 28 DVDs I'm sending in, and I'm prepared to receive some back if that should be the case.

It seems as if many individuals sell DVD's to Digital Eyes, now I have never dealt with them in any capacity, but how much can they really pay? Every site, be it online or in person I've every seen gives you squat. Now unless they give you great prices, diffrent story, but why wouldn't one just trade it or sell it on ebay for twice the price? Just curious.

To the moderator and whoever is reading this, if all this does not sound like shrill advertising and backstabbing to you, then I have nothing more to say.

Please ban me from this forum, I have had enough of all this hypocracy.

siberianhusky, in my case, I'd much rather deal with a reputable etailer(digitaleyes, spun, secondspin) to rid myself of unwanted dvds than take a chance on dealing with an individual, for either sale or trade. Etailers dealing in used dvds are also my preference for purchasing, as I've found a great many used oop titles for half retail instead of twice or more on ebay/half. In recent weeks alone I've found Prince of Darkness, Frankenhooker and Charade, my favorite unexpected find was a copy of Image's Tetsuo:the Iron Man for $15 at Digitaleyes. In addition, to comment on the other topic that keeps coming up, here's a link to a thread in which DVD DVD DVD suspects there may also be shills on this forum whose purpose it is to bash DeepDiscount. Enjoy. http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=255756

I e-mailed Mark at Digital about this situation, as he requested, but have yet to receive any reply.

As an aside, my order for Stalker and Tremors just shipped -- a week after the order was placed, and it's incomplete. They're only sending me Tremors, even though Stalker was and still is listed as being in stock.
