Does anyone know what day of the week Best Buy.com ships preorders? I am thinking of ordering two DVD's that are released on 2/25/03 if I choose overnight shipping should I have the DVD's by the 27th?

Not likely. Most likely your order will go to backorder at the release date and the in a week or 4 weeks after the release date, your order will ship. Thats been my history with them and pre-orders.

My history is they usually ship on the Saturday prior to release date and it arrives anywhere between release date to a week after.

It was usually later around the holidays and 3 day weekends

Last 3 BestBuy.com pre-orders I had came day of or day after release date.

do they charge your credit card when you place the order or when it ships?

I've ordered almost everything from BB.com over the past 6 months and it usually works like this:


If you order at least one week + in advance, the order will ship on the Fri/Sat before the release date.

If you order on Wed-Fri, the order will most likely ship by Mon/Tues.

If you wait until Saturday/Sun when the flyer is available and they advertise the new releases, the order quantities skyrocket and it may not ship until the Fri after release.

They will post a pending charge (hold) to your account when you hit "submit" on their site, but the actual charge will not show up until they ship your order.

I order alot from them. I like them because you can order in advance and they will adjust the price to the ad price automatically. I usually get my preorders right around the release date.

I preorderd My Big Fat Greek Wedding from them on the Saturday before release. It shipped on Monday before release and I received it Thursday, 2 days after release. Not bad in my book.
