DVD Rental Store Costs?
Does a store that rents DVD movies out to customers have to pay an additional fee to studios or something to have the right to rent them out? I thought that was the case but I can't find any info on it. Can someone direct me to more information or clear this up? If it was just a matter of going to the local B&M and renting them out for 3 bucks for every five days it would seem like a really sweet deal for the people renting DVD and not VHS.

Well, it all depends on what store you are talking about.
Blockbuster and Hollywood Video both have special "revenue sharing" agreements with the studios. Through these agreements they pay the studios for every time that a movie rents out. In return they get the movies for next to nothing.

If you are just about anybody else, you have to buy the movie and it's yours to do with as you please.
That's the quick version anyway.
