Questions about PlayCentric
So I bought "You Can Count On Me" from PlayCentric and it arrived in the mail today. I was expecting the Paramount release you get in stores, like you see here --
-- but apparently Columbia TriStar released it up in Canada (I flipped out for a second when the cover didn't match what I expected, but then I saw the Canadian label on the back), and this is what is looks like:
. The case was also clear plastic instead of black. What I'm mainly writing about is why there wasn't any plastic wrap. Does PlayCentric sell used? The disc doesn't have a scratch on it, but just the fact that it came without wrapping puzzles and concerns me. Anyone else buy from them before? I suppose that's what I get for shopping at the cheapest store DVD Price Search popped up because, after all, what's another 5 bucks?

Even though it doesn't have a plastic wrap, does it still have the security strip sealing the case? I've noticed some of the titles I buy don't come with plastic wrap, they are only sealed with security strips on the three sides of the case. WB DVD titles is one example.

From: Sonoran Desert; a place where it doesn't matter whether or not one can pronounce Donnacha.
Just because it isn't sealed doesn't mean it's used. In Europe, for example, much of new media if not all (CD, DVD) is sold unsealed. It's for conversation and environmental purposes. I have never heard, but wouldn't be surprised, if you would find the same thing in Canada. (That is the smart thing to do)
Us (perjoratively) in the U.S. and our (once again perjoratively) Beavis and Butthead mentality . . . Huh? Pollution? What's that? Let me fire up my ol' 10 m.p.g. super SUV (lifted 10 inches with big fat tires) and rule the road....

And condoms shouldn't come in individual plastic wrappers either.

I've ordered a couple of times from Playcentric and many times from other Canadian retailers. I have never gotten one that isn't sealed. At least it's in good condition...

I have ordered from amazon.co.uk and get unsealed DVDs in perfect untouched condition. Doesn't bother me. Beats the hell out of the shrink wrap you can't penetrate with your finger nails and the three security stickers America uses.

I got a copy of F/X 2 from Playcentric that didn't have the shrink wrap on it. It wasn't really a big deal to me, for a lesser DVD. I didn't know what to make of it either.

I had the DVD "Frequency" arrive from them in Shrinkwrap. However, the DVD inside was not legitimate. It was a blank CD-R with a label printed on an inkjet printer. Besides this one incident, I've had 4 other orders turn out fine.
