Just got my first statement for this card. The points you've earned are clearly displayed and broken down into points on Amazon purchases and points from other purchases. Still no $20 GC yet though. I also have 0% for a year. I cancelled my First USA GE Rewards Mastercard and they rolled that credit limit into my Amazon Visa limit. Just gotta cancel my First USA Cash Rewards Visa now.

I wrote BankOne and asked about the $20 GC and they bluntly told me it was not their problem or responsibility, and to contact Amazon, who when contacted, gave me a form reply, which did not answer a thing.

Looks like this is one of those situations where noone know what's going on. They can only refer to someone else, who also have no clue. So is there anyone alive who actually can answer the question about the $20 GC?

My situation was strange. I actually got a rejection letter from them saying that I had too much credit at the same bank. (I have 2 other Bank One Visas). I thought about calling them to cancel one of the other cards...but instead I just reapplied. The second time I got approved and they gave me a credit limit of $17,000!!! Go figure. (also includes 0% for 12 months and I had one of those $30 GC offers rather than $20. Of course we are all still waiting for the GC to show up!)

I don't know who to contact about this. But one of the earlier messages in the thread mentioned that it takes one billing cycle before they will send the GC. Supposely the billing cycle ends on Nov 15th. So maybe we'll see those GC soon?

I contacted Amazon about this--mainly because I signed up for a $20 GC but asked about the $30 GC. They, apparently, are the ones to ask. HOWEVER, they haven't been able to give me any answers yet. More later.

Will amazon let a person open another credit card with the new $30 GC even though he already opened one with the $20 GC?

Just got my $30 GC by e-mail today. I wasn't even signed up for a deal that promised $30. Oh well, it was a nice surprise.

Received my GC for $20 today. It works like a coupon, since it can not be applied toward a balance on an order that has yet to ship.

I also received a $30 GC even though I signed up for a $20 GC one. Well, it was well worth the wait for the extra $10.

Cheddar, what's this about the 2% off a vehicle purchase?

Back on topic, I received a $20 promo and emailed them--then I received a $10 promo.

Who did you email? Amazon or the company that issues the GC?

Question...I emailed amazon and got some response that the $30 offer was credited directly to your account (i.e. no promotional certificate)

The 2% off vehicle purchases is with the Citibank Drivers Edge card (the old Ford Citibank card). New members only qualify for 1%, however, old Ford Citibank cardholders (circa 1995) were grandfathered in at the 2% rate. It's pretty cool, you can use the rebate on any new vehicle purchase or lease. I think you are limited to $700/year up to $3,500 (as points expire after five years).

Back to the Amazon show....here is the email I received
Thanks for writing to us at Amazon.com.

I have reviewed our previous correspondence with you, and I offer my
sincere apologies for any misunderstanding thus far.

If you applied for an Amazon.com Platinum Visa Card before
November 1, 2002 and used it to pay for a purchase at Amazon.com
before November 15, your promotional certificate was sent via
e-mail on November 26. If you have not received it, please write
back to let us know.

For information about redeeming this offer, visit our web site:

xxxxxxxx

If you did not apply for your Visa credit card before November 1,
2002; we also offered another opportunity for our customers to apply
for an Amazon.com Platinum Visa Card beginnig November 13, 2002.
That offer worked a little bit differently from the earlier
application.

If you were pre-approved for an Amazon.com Platinum Visa card and
you were recognized when you signed into the online application form,
your $30.00 promotional certificate has been automatically redeemed
onto your account. You will not receive a claim code.

Please note that if you did not follow the link back to Amazon.com
after completing your application, or if you applied for the card by
phone, you will not receive the promotional certificate.

I have passed your message with your comments about the Amazon.com
Platinum Visa Card issued by Bank One along to the appropriate
department here at Amazon.com. We always value customer feedback,
and I know they will appreciate hearing about your experience.

Thank you again for taking the time to write to us.

Thanks for the info about the driver's edge card. Seems like a good deal if you've had it awhile.

About the Amazon email, I got the same one. And it means absolutely nothing. There was no GC on the account, and I tried telling them that. It wasn't until after I received my $20 that they were even able to understand that I was asking for $10 more. They've really dropped the ball with their understanding of this entire issue. But they'll understand eventually.

I'm still waiting for a $5 refund from my SPIDER-MAN order of over a month ago. Yes, over a month ago. Still processing. It's going to be a fun next few weeks trying to get good service from Amazon...
