Wonderful customer service from Amazon

I ordered a 20 GB Windows Ipod with free shipping and a $10 off coupon. It beat Apple.com's price even with a $30 off institutional discount I was eligible for because Apple charges tax.

Anyway, I got it yesterday and the remote control doesn't work. Amazon is shipping me a new one at no cost with 2 day shipping and sending me a UPS label to send the other one back. There is no additonal charge on my credit card unless I don't send the defective ipod back to them in 30 days. This is top notch service and I wanted to give them props.

I want to second that. Amazon has provided me with great customer service year in year out. It's the reason I'll keep going back there. So many companies have no concept of what customer service is today. Amazon really is first class.

The fact that I've never had to deal with Amazon's customer service shows me they must be doing something right.

I ordered a $150 DVD boxset and it was damaged upon arrival. I called in and they said they would send me another one along with a return shipping label. The replacement copy arrived few days later but no shipping label in sight. So I called them up and they said they would put in a request for a shipping label for me, and another request for a shipping label for a replacement order of a defective DVD that came without a shipping label (again) two months ago. I waited 2 weeks and still no shipping labels. So I called again and they said they had the requests on record and told me to keep waiting. Now more than a month later, I still do not have the return shipping labels. I almost wanted to tell them to send me the labels now or I would toss the goods away

What would you do?

You can print out pre-paid UPS labels from Amazon's Web site. Go to Returns, input the order number and Amazon will send you a link in 2 minutes with a pre-paid UPS setup. I have done it several times.
