I'm Banned from Best Buy....FOR LIFE!!!!
Edited to make it easier on peoples eyes....
Once again i called best buy from school and they told me that they finally got them in stock and that they were positive they would not run out today. After school my mom and I go to BB and after 10 minutes of waiting for some guy i tell him I want a Geforce 4 Ti4600...he goes around to looking for it and i say, "Err...you might wanna check lock up." he then goes and 5 minutes later brings me the Ti4600. I take it and walk to the cash register and he says, "wait wait wait, where do u think you're going? You have to buy this card at the customer service desk."
When I am there I hand some one the card and he rings it up for $399.99. Its then when i whip out my rain check and hand it to him. His jaws is literally hanging and he thinks about it for a second and says, "Sir, im sorry but i cant honor this...the price is too low for this card." I go back to the person I first talked to and show him all the stuff and i could tell that he was thinking to himself :where the **** did he get this stuff!:. He goes in the back and talks to his manager for a while and the manager comes out and say, "we cant honor you this card because it was never advertised at $179.99." Once again I am prepared for this comment and whip out the advertisement that showed it for 179.99. After seeing this he tells me that whom ever got this scanned could go to jail for stealing BB's price tags. . I say, "Look at it...it says you guys have it for 179.99."
After a moment of thinking to himself he says, "I cant honor this price unless I know that other stores have sold it for this price." I then whip out ozzies receipts AND the person from Illinois and the manager could not believe that I had these. He then says, "I know that you have all these things but there is no way I can sell you this card for this price. BUT i could give you a 20% discount on it...." I tell him no and that i want wat it says on the raincheck. He leaves to go take a **** or something while i'm there talking to some other BB employees about this.
They tell me that the SKUs dont match the price but i say than how did this person in FL and this person in IL get it for this price? Dumbfounded she tells me that she doesnt know and that it is against the rules to sell an item that cheap and that these other managers from teh other stores didnt know what they were doing and could get fired. I reply with a simple, "Then do you want me to call these other BB and tell them the story and get their managers fired?" without a word she leaves and goes to her computer to try to figure out what to do.
Another manager comes up to me ( a little nicer ) and asks if i would like the number for consumer affairs. I say yes and she gives it to me. When the original manager comes back he tells me that these prices were never in out computer and he has no idea who wrote the rain check for me. I point him out to the bottom of the rain check where it is signed by the best buy employee. he says, "Hmmmm...im gonna have to have a little talk with him. But im still not giving you the card." After about another 20 minutes of talking with them and not leaving the store I finally tell myself what the hell am i doing, these jack asses wont give me the card i have to bring this higher.
Well before i leave i decide to go to get a drink of water from their water fountains when i am stopped by the somebody and they tell me, "Excuse me sir, would you kindly leave our store? You have caused enough trouble for one day and are not allowed into the store until tomorrow morning." For 10 minutes im telling the guy how ****ing thirsty i am and that i need a drink. "Sir would you like me to call the police to have you escorted out of the store?" I said sure why not, call the cops the worst that can happen is they bring me out of the store and cause a big comotion.
Im still there and they guy brings over another manager and another employee trying to talk me into leaving the store and that the cops would be here any minute. I say, "Then can i come back tomorrow?" he said yes, just cuz he wanted me to leave the store...i also asked when teh cops would be coming and he said any minute. I decide that i dont wanna get this involved with the police, so on my way out I say, "This is all ******** and i dont beleive im doing this"...and i get a reply of, "Sir, you know what? Dont ever coming back to a Best Buy store ever again, you are now BANNED!"
I am now at home and my parents are calling the family laywer to see what he can do. We are hoping to get this big enough to give Best Buy a bad name and not want others to shop there anymore. Sorry if i made this a very long post, but if you have nothing encouraging to say to me and just want flame a nice, "Hey i hope you guys show best buy a thing or two" will suffice.

Yeah, funny stuff.
I know this is going to become a long thread about how much Best Buy sucks, blah blah blah.
I will say this; The manager has final say on what's an acceptable price. This person (child) went about it the wrong way. Once the manager denied it and offered the number for "consumer affairs" he should have gone in that direction, instead of hanging around and becoming beligerant. I'm not surprised that the "receipts" from other stores were invalid too. You see them all the time on other forums. (DVD Talk has been good about not allowing such things)
I find it laughable when people post about all these pricing mistakes like they're "entitled" to them. Hell,%20 off that seems like a pretty good deal, $80 off. Now he has nothing.
Good job!

Hey, the kid had the rain check, the receipt, the employee name, the other stores, the advertisement, he had everything and more to get his card at that price, he only got banned for life because he made them look like idiots and there was nothing they could do about it.

What does it show? That the manager used his own volition as far as what he found acceptable.
This should be no surprise to anyone who shops at Best Buy. It even happened to me once, where I asked the Mgr to price match a store accross the street and he told me "No", even with the ad, etc. I've even picked up mispriced stuff off the shelf and they wouldn't honor it because the price difference was too big.
It was a pricing mistake. If you're lucky enough to have the Mgr. who will honor it, then great, if not too bad. No reason to cause a scene.

That's what it shows.
Best Buy doesn't owe anybody anything. But they shouldn't hire people who make promises they have no intention of keeping.

Now that the card is coming in stock, people are now going back with their rain check. Some are even going back with their original online order receipt. Most people don't get the card, but there have been a few that have gotten it at $129 with a price match to the online store, or gotten the original rain check honored at $179.
So, this kid went to the store with his original rain check, the price tag from the shelf, and a copy of a receipt from someone else that showed that $179 price being honored.
If anyone wants to see the full details, there's a monster thread at [H]ard|Forum (The thread has over 2000 posts, 130,000 views)

I've found out from personal experience that BB managers have a lot of leeway(sp?). They can choose which prices to honor. I went there during Black Friday, and the manager told me there was no way he would allow me to pricematch the items that I had bought before Black Friday. I talked to him a little, and convinced him to PM some of it. I didn't complain because the item that he did not agree to PM on was on the shelves, so I just picked up a copy there. It was supposed to be 14.99, but the new CSR gave it to me for 14.29. It sucks because the people before me weren't able to get the PM, but I guess I just got lucky.
BTW: BB has screwed up PMing 3 times so far for me (all three in my favor)

Whatever. This guy prolly doesn't belong in any store. So a manager won't back the offer? Guess what, he doesn't have to. It isn't a God-given right to be able to shop and get deals. It isn't in the constitution (that I know of anyway). It is a privlige (sp?) and people like him always try to ruin that.

I was Banned from Best buy. Of course It was because I was an employee who had been buying computer cables at cost and returning thrm for retail...but it's kinda related.

It's not like there was only one Best Buy store. Go to another store and the staff there won't even know about you!

but if you really want to piss them off, just do an order at www.bestbuy.com for pick up at that store ... then see if they refuse to let you pick it up. You will probably get free shipping if they refuse to let you pick it up (and since you are banned you may get free shipping on everything to your house, once you explain it to Corporate) Hell I'd bring them an 8x10 glossy of me to put in the store so they could identify me and I could get free shipping on everything if this works...
