Phantom Menace is at Blockbuster NOW!!!
I just went to my Blockbuster to look at the previously viewed dvd's. To my excitement I looked over at there new movies and they had "The Phantom Menace" for $22.99 brand new. I checked there rentals and they didn't even have it for rent yet; but they did to buy. Check your store for availability

Why? By the time i could ship it to you it would be release time and you coudl get it a mile away from your house. We're only 3 days away from launch... one of which isnt' even a shipping day!?

Oh you mean phantom menace! Trust me you don't want it at the Blockbuster price, i think it was 26.99. Why buy it for that horrible price when BB or CC will have it for around 17 ... no matter how early. Trust me its not worth the extra money

You mean it's not worth the extra money to you. It is to me, and I'll tell you why. I live in a duplex. My neighbors who share the duplex will be out of town next weekend. This will be my only chance to watch this movie with the volume cranked.

Why not invite your neighbor to the show and crank it all up without worry
Btw, Lucas would be pissed to find out that some store sells it early, considering how particular he was about when to allow the reviews of the DVD to go public.

Has anyone else confirmed this at their own locations. Of course, I believe Kit. But I wanted to see if other Blockbusters were doing this.
Also, would it be wise to call them and ask, you think they would ADMIT to selling it early? I don't want to drive all the way there just to check on it.

Kit, which Blockbuster did you get it from? I went to the one in the shopping center in Broomfield today and they acted clueless. I had them call the other Blockbuster in Broomfield and they also said they didn't have it. I guess they decided to pull them or something...

I called BB today and they mumbled something that it is NOT available and the guy sounded like he was tired of answering my question. He must get 1,000 Phantom Menace DVD questions a day. Still, "how wude!"

I have about 6 Blockbuster's around me.. I went to 4 of them and did not see any Episode One DVD's... two of them did have the Godfather collection on DVD for rent, but not for sale...
I talked to one of the store managers, and he relayed to me that the stores have been warned about street dates, specifically Star Wars... and they were told any store selling Phantom Menace before the street date would result in the store manager losing their job. He said that their register systems can output a report of what titles were sold on what dates.. and if a store is caught selling Star Wars before the street date.. that the store manager would be toast.... so, I'm not sure about the Godfather two days before the street date, but sounds like any reports of Phantom Menace two weeks before the street date must be untrue... He denied that they were in the back room, and said that he expected them the sometime the week before the street date....
.. just relaying the information I gathered today....
if anyone in the Detroit area knows of a way to get it early.. let me know...
