You knwo what sucks, the only way you can leave a bizrate rating for Playcentric is to place another order. :) hahaha, no wonder their rating is so high :)

I just got a response from a Rocket Cash email I sent earlier today. They said my order shipped on October 8th. Any bets to see if I'll get my stuff before Halloween??? ;)

I finally got my Simpsons set yesterday. They said it was shipped on the 27th of Septmber, it was postmarked October 1.

I'm still waiting for the Simpsons and getting worried and pissed.

They sent me a email about 2 weeks ago saying that it was backordered. Then, the next day I received an email that was dated before the one above and it said that I had received the one above in error and my set was in the mail.

Playcentric is the worst company ever , I have preordered numerous times and they always come within a day or two of the release date. Its been almost 1 month, nothing, and no phone number to call 'em up.

I, too, ordered the Simpsons from Playcentric over a month ago. Everytime I check the order status, all it tells me is that it is on backorder and there is no estimated ship date.

I got good deal on it, but is it really a good deal if I never receive it? Signs point to 'no'...

Well, here's the email they sent me:

We apoligize for the delay in filling your order. A system problem allowed more orders than there was in bound stock. Stock is now arriving and both the Simpsons and Star Wars should be on it's way to you next week. Please allow 8-14 business days for standard USPS delivery.

I've already allowed 1 month for standard USPS delivery.

I think the people at Playcentric are trying to play "catch up"....Today is Sunday and they just sent me an email confirming my shipment that was sent out the 8th! Workin a little overtime hey?!? LOL

Still no Simpsons or Star Wars.

I ordered The Simpsons Box Set and The French Connection Box Set in early September. According to my Order History it was shipped on Sept. 25th. After waiting about 3 weeks I sent them an e-mail. They replied that my order have been returned by the Post Office for some unknow reason and it had been reshipped on October 11th. It just arrived yesterday morning, October 19th.

I've ordered from Playcentric about 6 times in the past few months. Every time I've received my order. And every time I saved money. For me, ordering from them is a Money vs Time equation. If I don't mind waiting to get the item at the lowest possible price, I'll often use Playcentric. If I'd rather spend more to get the item ASAP, I'll shop elsewhere.

Order arrived late and missing a DVD
 

Placed my 1st order end of August - preordered Simpsons, Mummy Returns, and 2 copies of Terminator.
After street date (10/2) came and went, emailed them a few times, and was told that the shipment went out 10/8.
Finally got the shipment yesterday (10/19) - the package showed a postmark of 10/16. :confused:

To top it off, only 1 dvd of Terminator was shipped. Just wrote yet another email... :(

To me it's not worth the couple of bucks I saved. Not ordering from them again.

I also placed a pre-order for the Simpsons and was getting worried about when they would ship it, it just happen to arrive here yesterday 10/19/2001. Just be patience, it's worth the wait for their good deals on most DVD's and with code 'PRICE99' you save $2 on each DVD.

If you're a smart shopper, you don't have use playcentric. I managed to get the godfather and Simpsons For cheaper than playcentric had them, even after you account for their 20% off. Cdnow had 15% off, and when you couple that with the giftcertificate.com offer you have a great deal! And alot of members on this board were also smart and went with Amazon's 10off50 joined with STL and got those sets for just a couple of bucks more than playcentric.

And on top of the price being jsut as good at other stores, you didn't have to deal with playcetric's trademarks, such as:

I also received my Simpsons DVD yesterday. It took over a month to get to me, but it did only cost $18 + shipping. I guess it was worth the good deal, but I really hate worring about whether I am going to receive my DVD or not.

I thought they were from canada? No?

No, their packages re-ship or ship from canada... but they are legally based in barbados or bermuda.

I received Star Wars: TPM earlier today (Oct. 20th). According to the website it was shipped on Oct. 8th.

Just thought I'd throw my two cents worth in here. I had pre-ordered Star Wars, Shrek and The Grinch several weeks ago. Well, today I received an e-mail from Playcentric stating that Star Wars was backordered.

So much for pre-ordering eh? -rolleyes-

Anyhow, I've cancelled all of my remaining pre-orders including this one.

Pre-order arrived 1 day before release date!
 

Today 10-22-2001 I received Disney's Dumbo from Playcentric and only paid $13.96, $9 cheaper than Amazon.com which showes a release day of Oct. 23th. So far I have no complaints about them and I placed about 10 orders with them.

This isn't about preorders, but I didn't want to start a new thread with this one on the first page.

I ordered 2 copies of The Simpsons on 10/9. Got an e-mail saying they were on backorder on the 15th. They arrived today. I was disappointed that they were only in a bubble mailer but they seem fine. 2 weeks is ok with me because they are for xmas & I pretty much knew what I was getting into. However, I also placed an order on 10/3 for 2 Godfathers, a Rocky set, & a Die Hard. This supposedly shipped a day or two later, but I have not received it. Again they're xmas gifts so it's not too big a deal, but what's the hold-up? This one wouldn't fit in an envelope?

I have ordered from playcentric numerous times and have not had any issues, at least none that I havent had with just about any other company I have ordered with.

I just received my copies of the Simpsons, Godfather, and Terminator. All ordered before the realease date. I am happy to have finally got them and with the price ($80 for all 3). I am not happy with the length of time or the lack of communication. If you don't need to have the movies right then, it's not a bad deal.

Still no SW Ep 1 or Simpsons yet.
This sucks.
