Kinda hard to do since I've used amazon gc's But I will give their CS a call.
Called up their CS. Seems there was a glitch in their system and my order had just 'stalled.' Anyway, they're sending it out today and upgraded it to nextday air for free. I'll get it tomorrow!! Amazon's back on top!

If I were you, I would give them a call and raise hell. They are usually quick to send you a replacement copy. Enjoy the damaged copy now and return it when the replacement arrives.
They shipped a replacement copy this morning via 2nd day air with pre-paid postage for returning the damaged one. About the best I could ask for in the situation.

I watched The Godfather last night. It's damn good to have these movies on DVD finally.

Y'know . . .

So, okay. Amazon shipped Godfather on Mon. with a UPS tracking number. I checked the progress w/the tracking number and UPS said I'll get it today. Cool. I'm jazzed. I'm going to get some carry out cannoli, some spaghetti and have a Godfather night.
This morning I check UPS. Those dolts shipped the thing to Lansing Mi, about 90 miles from me and it's held up another day. Now a day is not a real big deal in the scheme of things but it's only 90 miles. It's been there since 4 something this morning. I could get there and back on my bike in that time.
Man!
Thank you.
Joel

Did amazon use an oversized box or the cardboard mailer to ship?

The same thing happened to my order, although they wouldn't expedite the shipping. Mine was also ordered in June and paid for with GCs, so if anyone else paid with GCs and hasn't gotten it yet--give them a call and they should at least put it in the shipping process for you.

It came in a large slim line box the set was enclosed in shrinkwrap with a cardboard backong-similar ot how they ship thier books..I have no clue why they would be shipping thses ups..They usually only use UPS for very large or heavy boxes.

Got my GF from amazon today. WTF!!! It was all crushed up during shipping since the brainless moron packaged my boxset in an infamous wrap-around-the-item type of cardboard mailer (that offers no cushioning at all).

I just called amazon and raised hell. Now I have to wait for a replacement order. Oh crap!

The exact same thing happened to me... box was crushed with a huge crease. Since half the reason I bought this DVD was to display it, a crease just won't do. Called them up, and they're sending a replacement... now have to wait two more days.

Reading all the GODFATHER shipping nightmares, made me glad that I cancelled my order.

I was one of those who ordered in August during their free shipping promotion. Two weeks ago, I noticed that they reinstated the shipping charge and that was my signal to CANCEL the order. It wasn't the extra $2.98 that I would have to pay, but the principal of changing customer orders without telling them!

And now with the damaged shipment problems many have noted, i'm doubly glad to have cancelled. I ordered from Deep Discount DVD 10 days before street date and promptly received it (in perfect condition) on street date with no shipping charge.

From all of your horror stories, I don't think I'll be ordering from Amazon anytime soon.

I can feel your pain. I told the CSR to put in a comment with the replacement order that an oversized box should be used to ship the order. My order just shipped today. I shall see how it goes.

My copy of the Godfather shipped on Friday from Amazon. Had to wait an extra week for the Phantom Menace DVD to become available since it was on the same order. Hopefully it will be here Monday or Tuesday.

I can't say all has gone smoothly with my order. First Amazon removed the free shipping from my order summary, but insisted they had the correct charges in their database. Than when I made changes to my shipping address it caused an increase of my order total, which took two calls to a CSR to fix. And when my order finally shipped they changed the price again and overcharged my order by $7.25 to my credit card.
